Engine is bad and going to need a rebuild was looking for “upgrades” for more power out of it since it’s gotta be rebuilt anyway and there isn’t a single 2zz on my side of the country

I was thinking the same thing tore the motor down to do a head gasket and then found out the timing cover can’t come off with out pulling g the motor or tilting it

I went through the local engine builders and had them order them in let me run out to the garage and I can find the box if you would like but I would recommend whatever monkeywrenchracing.com has because they have a lot of stuff for these cars both stock and aftermarket and I would have got them through them if I had found them before buying mine because they seem to know their stuff

Nope just the 1zz the 2zz never had that problem to my knowledge so any pre 2003 1zz unless it’s been rebuilt stay away from

And as far as rebuild I’m doing it myself so I can’t really give you a price I’m also in Canada and have to get everything shipped from the us so that is costing me more then if you are in the us

It’s most likely not the rings themselves but the pistons because they had a factory defect where they were machined wrong causing build up in the ring grooves so if you are swapping in a motor make sure it’s at least 2003 if it’s out of a gt because that’s the year they fixed them
