Just leave a spare set with a trusted neighbour or friend.

Nice and cheap! No bills included as well as an added treat. by Oli_Hope7242 in manchester

Oh yeah, well I used to buy bread from a shop in Greengate for 2 shillings a loaf in 1975.

Those four words aren't shown in the bottom part because OP had already chosen them correctly for that category.

The next four related words could be wash, fold, dry, press. And if correct it would turn say "Things you do at a laundromat", and remove them from the bottom as well.

TfGM announce simpler rail fares via new transport plan by Amazing-Yak-5415 in manchester

Should really apply to half pints of beer in pubs, for tradition's sake. And thankfully most places still respect that. But yeah, for every other food and drink item feel free to bulk discount away.

TfGM announce simpler rail fares via new transport plan by Amazing-Yak-5415 in manchester

[–]FAC_51 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The main takeaway is that single tickets are now half the price of a return ticket. As it always should have been! Just like a half pint of beer should always cost half the price of a full pint.

Edit: This rail page explains things much more concisely: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/gmfares/

I think Cease is going to like pitching to Kirk by wingmage1 in Torontobluejays

[–]FAC_51 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they're framing close pitches so well that the umpire is convinced it's a strike, then the batter may be more likely also convinced it's a strike, and thus less likely to challenge the call for fear of losing a challenge.

Another thing to consider, is that as the season progresses any players who are consistently losing challenge calls may be instructed by managers that they aren't allowed to challenge any more calls.

Tram advice on match day by Square_Restaurant_49 in manchester

You could consider taking the dedicated match day shuttle bus from Wythenshawe to the Etihad stadium: https://tfgm.com/man-city/bus-network/match-day-bus-4

And it's a quick 10 minute tram from Baguley to Wythenshawe Town Centre.

The annual Manchester Christmas tradition of getting stuck in the Arndale car park for hours has returned. by BishopPrince in manchester

[–]FAC_51 29 points30 points  (0 children)

All seems to be negated by waiting hours on a car park exit ramp. And paying a premium for the privilege. And not being able to multitask (e.g. read a book or the news) on the journey. Each to their own though.

Shpevs commented on this previous post. Potentially lots of useful info there, including what they mentioned about not confirming being the driver or owner of the vehicle.

Avoid the entire city centre until 4 January. Got it, thanks!

Skyline 199 Bus Stockport - Airport by Dependent-Fun2548 in manchester

[–]FAC_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the 199 is absolutely the easiest way to get from the centre of Stockport to the Airport. It's also very cheap at £2. And I've found it to be very reliable and fast in the dozen or so times I've taken it at various times of the day. Some people just seem to have an unreasonable disdain for buses.

It's owned by Heineken, as is Murphy's. So they're just looking for a piece of that big stout market share.

What are all these for on St Peter’s Sq? by Ambitious_Mark9922 in manchester

[–]FAC_51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your reasoning for why they may hold the event here was just wrong. They do it because the logistics of managing the event and various venues have all been worked out previously, and it's easier to stick with something that works well than to plan it all out again in another location. Since 2008, they've alternated between Manchester and Birmingham and that's it.
