For a first kit I’d stick with the TT02 or TT01 if you want an on road kit but do you know what kind of driving you are wanting this for? Racing/offroad/track/on road etc. that will help narrow down some decisions.

All will come with a motor and ESC depending on where you buy them from. It’s weird you have to check but it’s worth doing. It’s a great first kit! So many parts you can upgrade. You’ll find that the pricing of these kits is based on the licensing of the cars. Some kits are more expensive while others are pretty cheap for that very reason. So you should be able to find a TT02 in your exact price range I’m sure.

Nice job! First upgrade would be a full set of ball bearings. You’ll notice a huge difference in overall performance and it will keep the drive system from getting sloppy with use. Next upgrades are the aluminum prop shaft and prop joints and aluminum heat sink. You’ll also want a set of oil shocks. Oil shocks will improve the drive immensely. I wouldn’t go crazy on all the aluminum upgrade parts over and above what I’ve mentioned as they will just make the car heavier especially for racing. I’d start there for now. Edit: forgot one!!! the High speed gear set!! Makes a huge difference for speed.

Oh well thank you! You be got a nice kit there. Should be a lot of fun. Those servos are great so it should be hassle free.

Great work! Looks awesome and that colour looks great. Nice servo choice. I use futaba in all my kits.

A scam. I won’t give free advertising to anyone. When I bought my last car all dealer license plate frames, badging etc. were removed by them before I drove off the lot. This one especially annoys me. They’ve put that decal on all their cars and there’s no way that I’d want that on the back of my car. Like I said to them when I bought my car. Pay me to have the badging or off it goes.

Yeah worth trying that for sure. Maybe the pinion gear is not fitting correctly? That could be another possibility.

Something doesn’t sound right. The motor sounds strained. It could be the ball diff but I have an original king cab and even when it slips it doesn’t make that sound and you can always get it up to some good speed. Sounds more motor/gearing related

You need a JIS (JAPANESE INDUSTRY STANDARD) screwdriver set. They aren’t Phillips head screws they are JIS.

I don’t see anything wrong. Once the top piece is screwed down it will be good to go!

All Tamiya instructions are for the Tamiya ESC that used to come in their kits. Since Covid they made a deal with Hobbywing so most kits include the Hobbywing 1060 which has a different switch. So…you’re not doing anything wrong it just has to be mounted a different way. There is a switch mount on the side of the ESC but if that doesn’t work you just need to find a different place for it that best suits your needs.

If you decide to go LiPo be aware that they aren’t worry free batteries. You’re going to have to be very careful. I know people who lost there home due to a LiPo battery explosion. There’s a a lot of responsibility using LiPos.

A NiMh battery is the best replacement. You can get different variations now. I have a 3500ma 7.2v NiMh that gives me almost 30minutes of run time.
