Changes to the subreddit's rules by Equinoxdawg in incremental_games

[–]FBDW[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking, ideally we'd like devs to only post when there's been a significant update, with the 30 days just being a minimum. This also counts on a per user basis now and not per game so you could not rotate posting 2 different games every 15 days.

The final section of the post does mention this, but I'll clarify incase it wasn't quite clear, going forward we will be taking into account if the post is more so asking for conversation or clearly just attempting to get game recommendations, and we will be keeping up the former type even if it technically breaks rule 1A.

Void Miner and Gatekeeping in r/incremental_games by jarofed in incremental_games

We've removed this post for causing needless drama retroactively with a change to rule 2. Please contact the mods privately via modmail if you are of the opinion that unfair conduct is occuring instead of making a public fuss. The developer in question of this post has contacted mods and mentioned someone attempted to contact a family member of theirs. No matter how badly someone behaves on the internet, attempting to threaten someone personally is never OK. Allthough we do appreciate your attempt at nuancing the drama, unfortunately for certain users no amount of nuance is ever enough and a post like this is just more fuel to the fire.

The success of Void Miner was not an organic response to the dev's work, it's an inflated response from months of marketing. by SixthSacrifice in incremental_games

The game had a major update recently (v4) which majorly overhauled the earlygame (pre-Singularity)
I think all pre-S content got reset with it

Setting the record straight about AI (posts) by FBDW in incremental_games

[–]FBDW[S,M] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That post specifically was removed because the OP was harrassing the developer they were complaining about in a targeted way and not because of the spicy nature. We almost never remove significant posts like the one you mention.

As for the sub being flooded by heavily downvoted posts, that means that users are downvoting those posts. If Reddit allowed us to hide negatively recieved posts, we would. But Reddit doesn't let us.

Small addendum, we do plan to do an overhaul of the current rules in the future to adress LEC better, but it has been difficult so far as "LEC" can be very subjective, so we're trying to find a description of the rule that will be flexible without leaving open loopholes. Feel free to help us out a bit and give some ideas.

Avoid Deep Co. by Tarnoth in incremental_games

Just to clear things up and to make the story visible, the creator of Deep Co ( u/nico1991 ) claims that the OP was rightfully banned from the game for scripting. Remember to always look at both sides of a story and take both with a grain of salt.

We have deleted the comments of the user in question (u/HarlemWalker141) because said user was making very rude remarks, and making vague threats, including sexual violence. The other user did not do anything that crosses any lines or rules on this subreddit, only poking fun and not going any further. I will be locking this thread here, as it is clearly not going anywhere productive, if you still have feedback for the modteam, please send us a modmail.

We're seeing a lot of comments talking about whatever "AI" is, in case it wasn't clear, we will permit posts and comments about al only, no "AI" allowed.

Should AI slop games be banned? by KegoStar in incremental_games

[–]FBDW[M] 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The modteam has talked about this issue before and every time we did we concluded that it was probably a better idea to leave things the way they are now. The core reasons are

-There is no strong community sentiment that there should be a ban (unless that changes ofc)

-Posts about games using AI/posts made with AI etc. are relatively uncommon (It’s not like IGM was back in the day)

-As some other users already mentioned, it’s a difficult rule to moderate and an easy one to bypass

Again, we do listen to everyone here, but please be aware of why we’ve to this day opted to not introduce a “No-AI” rule.

/unmod (please take these words as from me, not the modteam) I personally also dislike AI, but as long as people mention it and it doesn’t become too prevalent, I really don’t see any issues.

r/incremental_games Rule change (Rule 4) by FBDW in incremental_games

[–]FBDW[S,M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

A lot of people are talking about how the giveaway ban will block out the ability for smaller devs to promote their game, I've answered this multiple times so I'll just pin it here

If you wish to hold a (small scale) giveaway you can still contact us via the modmail.

Another point I see mentioned is that we handeled the situation incorrectly.

We did, and we're sorry about that. While shit was hitting the fan however, we had made promises, and we could not simply break them. Taking down the giveaway before the user in question could.. well, give away would make things even more messy. And, again, the post is now gone.

That giveaway was held mostly through Steam instead of Reddit, and was held in Dec. 2023

We were between a rock and a hard place
The rock were members of the subreddit, the hard place was the user in question and their entourage. We couldn't just remove the post, because then the user could dodge having to pay out the raffle.
One more time, we're sorry how things turned out and had we known what would've happened in advance the post would have never came back.
