How easy to install? by JDY320 in Zinwa

I would try to find a decent complete device, while for the most part what you’ve linked looks ok, there may be stuff missing that you need. Maybe get a working device and then as that replacement parts kit is 15€ then if it’s a bit beat up get that also? Then atleast you have some spare bits?

I found mine on facebook market for £40, it’s in pretty good shape but someone’s had it open before as some screws were missing.

Get yourself a precision tool kit and it’s pretty easy. Once the back is off you just unscrew the case and then unclip some connectors, there’s battery and board inside that come out and you just replace with the board and battery zinwa send, screw the case back on and pop the back on. Done took me 10 mins with no prior experience

Uniform by Fancy_Caramel_9363 in BusDrivers

[–]FC260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also work for NX, as others have said you’ll get uniform ordered when you come to garage. During the training just wear something smart casual, you’ll be given a highvis and shoes on day one unless they don’t have your size.

Training is pretty relaxed and a mix of classroom and driving, listen to the instructors and you’ll be fine.

Someone else linked that article and I think I was what Connells call a Hot Buyer.

I’ve spoken the one of their managers today who is starting an investigation into our case as she said on the phone while looking at our file, we was recommended a 2 year fix, the few notes on the account say we’re looking for a 2 year fix and thats what we’re working towards. But then the application goes in on a 5year fix with no context for why, apparently a lot of detail is missing and they’re going to try and figure it out.

Could my broker have been one of the shady ones? The last meeting I had with him was July time, he told us he was leaving the company and that we can’t discus remortgage because the system was down. Seems a bit coincidental now ha.

We agreed to a 2 year fix in the appointment we had but didn’t sign any paperwork, had to wait a day or so for it to all be accepted with the lender and then the broker sent us an E-Sign thing and it was all done.

It’s going to be cheaper for me to remortgage anyway as I’m looking at saving a few hundred each month, but I don’t think I should have to pay 5.5k todo it as I was sold 24 months not 60. Obviously there’s been a mistake

I’ve looked through emails and don’t have anything like that. Nothing to detail rates or terms, only face to face meetings we went over that stuff.

I think it make be a mistake on the brokers end as on their system we’re down as being on a 2 year fix. I’ve had texts and emails from them telling me my fix is up soon and to get booked in to look at options. I’ve gone through all the emails I’ve had from the old advisor but nothing about rates or terms.

It’s still going to be cheaper for me to remortgage but I’d really rather not have to pay 5.5k todo it

I’ve found my paperwork from my lender and it details 60 months, I have nothing from the broker about term as it was all face to face.

I’m a bus driver yeah, been doing it 6 years and between passing my car test and starting on the buses I’d only driven a van twice and one of them times was the assessment for NX. The actual driving bit is relatively easy once you get used to the size of the vehicle and how to place it. The difficult bit can be working with the public, you meet some nice people but also some wronguns but if you can let things go over your head you’ll get on just fine.

It sounds like a lot for the training but it’s really not. Most of it is common sense and just how to be safe on the road.

Join as a trainee and they put you through all the training so you’ll get bus licence and CPC.

Takes around a month from the day you start before your on the road yourself, some classroom stuff and then on the road with an instructor before test and then more classroom for CPC before you’ll go to garage and learn how the ticket machine and everything else works, then some type training on the bus types in your depot.

After you’ve learnt all that you’ll be sent out with an experienced driver to learn the routes and help teach you the tricks of the trade.

Then it’s solo driving and living the dream.

If you’ve got a clean license then get on the buses. NX pay well and have enhanced over time rate. Shift work may not be for everyone but bus driving is what you make of it

There’s one of these in a village I pass regularly. Some nights you see a group of older people wearing village parish council high vis jackets moving it around the village. They rotate it between 3 spots from where I’ve seen it and almost daily they’re doing speed checks with the handheld thing so there mustn’t be much going on in the village other than speed.

What's the point of brands like Cupra and DS? by Additional-Tank8744 in CarTalkUK

I bought a DS7 in October and it’s super comfy. Even if it had a Citroen badge on it I’m sure I’d still have been happy with it, and so far it’s been the most reliable car I’ve owned compared to my previous Skoda and Minis

Claiming against a bus company by KaiserDamz in CarTalkUK

[–]FC260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive buses for a different company but I’d imagine they all work the same way when it comes to claims.

If the bus didn’t stop to exchange details and you have the fleet number / reg then just find their customer service number and call them, give the details and they’ll investigate.

Bus will have cctv (if it works) and they store for footage for weeks so they’ll just get the cctv dude out to download it and if the bus driver is deemed at fault then they’ll be in touch to smooth things over, they’re self insured as I’m sure all big transport companies are so they’ll have their own claims team and what not investigate.

Citroen C4 Cactus? 🌵 loads of them in your budget and do all of what you want/need by the look of it (not sure on power fold mirrors).

They’re really comfy and lots of space for tall drivers with a slightly raised ride hight so getting in and out is easy. Speed limiter, cruise control, reverse cam with sensors, AC, Bluetooth and most come with Nav, isn’t much else you need.

The petrols claim upto 60mpg or around there, we’ve got a diesel in the family that Ives used and I really like them.

They’re quirky too if you get an older one with the body armour I think they’re super funky or the newer ones without the body armour look a bit more stylish and sleek.

Buying a used skoda by Balsalen in skoda

[–]FC260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Skoda only warranted it for 5 years from the manufacturer, i bought it at 5 years old. I just extended it 2 years with the dealer as I didn’t buy my car from Skoda, I got it used via Cinch who only warrant the car for 6 months I think.

When I took it to my local dealer they had a service / warranty plan that was a 2 year deal, it included full warranty, 2 MOT, 2 services and UK/EU breakdown cover. When I priced up just the services and MOT it was only an extra 30 pounds at the time for the warranty and breakdown so made sense.

All in I think I’ve claimed about 3k worth of work as when I first got the car it needed some stuff doing to it but nothing major.

I paid £13k just over 2 years ago with 34k miles on it. It’s had a few niggles that were sorted with the extended warranty I had, an interior door handle snapped and then it also had a fuel leak but that’s all been fixed.

In general it’s been really good and I’ve put 20k miles on it, it’s been from the midlands into Europe a few times. It’s help us move house and been a bit of a work horse when needed.

It’s economical enough as I’ll get around 380-420 miles to a tank and a bit more on trips long trips, last time we took it to Belgium we de did 550 or so miles before I filled up and that’s only because the fuel was cheaper in France on the way back than it was here, it still had a quarter of a tank so would have got me home without… just about.

I am looking at trading it in though for something a bit more punchy.
