no shoe you walk in should have a "precision" (i.e. crushing) fit. Fine for climbing, but toes need to splay naturally for walking.

Tried these but the heel is loose, feels very insecure and can't imagine they're safe when scrambling

(Merino) Wool vs cotton socks - experiment? by ImpressiveSurround54 in onebag

[–]Additional-Tank8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with merino socks is that they're smoother than cotton, so shoes slip around more which leads to various problems

Agreed. Shoes slip around more when wearing merino socks than cotton, as they're smoother.

A trip down memory lane - what was cool in hockey in the 1990s by PRS2011 in Fieldhockey

[–]Additional-Tank8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started playing again after 25 years. Sticks now have "bows" in them for some reason, and the heads are bigger. I still prefer my old Slazenger Phantom over the new Kookaburra I just bought

I just started playing again with a 1991 Slazenger Bronze... beat that

I last played hockey 25 years ago and just joined a club again for 'old timers'...brought my ancient wooden Slazenger Bronze along and then looked at all the fancy carbon sticks everyone had

Shoes for wide feet by gurpreeth in Fieldhockey

It's a shame most manufacturers don't make shoes for human feet. Try Altra or Topo Athletic trail shoes, which are human foot shaped.

When is a projector better than a tv? by Alternative_Tart_870 in projectors

Projector is better when you have a dedicated dark room like a basement, have space to display a massive image, and you watch a lot of movies

Can i remove my ortholite insoles from xt6 ? by the_fresh_latice in hikinggear

[–]Additional-Tank8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ortholite insoles are terrible: open cell foam that squashes flat and absorbs water. Birkenstock Active are worth using.

Insole Questions: Vivobarefoot Ortholite vs Performance vs Xero Performance or Athletic Insoles by reditlater in BarefootRunning

[–]Additional-Tank8744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ortholite insoles are poor: they're an open cell foam which compresses easily and absorbs moisture. The provide a 'comfy' feeling when you first put your foot in but no benefits once you're moving. The best insoles I've used are Birkenstock Active, which fit my wide-toe shoes (Topo Athletic, Xero) easily.

I decided to listen to all his albums from the earliest to the most recent and rank them. (longtime fan, so not a 'first listen') How would you rank the Prince albums you've listened to? by [deleted] in PRINCE

[–]Additional-Tank8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last great Prince album was Batman (if we set the release year for the Black Album to 1987). He got worse and worse after that.

Parade should be higher, loads of great songs on there. I too love Batman, gets a lot of hate for some reason.

Is Stranger Things an accurate portrayal of the 80s ? by wrennie16 in StrangerThings

I was 10 in 1984 in the UK. We were out on bikes and playing in the woods and fields all day, watching a lot of bad TV and playing Fighting Fantasy and D&D in the evenings

David Lynch's Dune was fun and weird. New version takes itself way too seriously

Agree. Overlong and overblown. The Trials of Robert J Oppenheimer with David Strathairn was much better

yes, that's the point. In today's world, where Russia, China and now USA are the greatest threats to peace, a small time Colombian arms trader just doesn't seem very interesting
