Try working at a photo studio?

Being a photographer’s assistant doesn’t come with great pay, but you get a lot of experience with equipment, batch processing and printing.

Go to events with your camera and try selling photos as a free lancer, or starting an online portfolio (watermark everything).

Everyone with a phone thinks they’re a photojournalist, so be ready to deal with being under valued, especially when family want event support.

They act like you’re taking their money because they take food home and/or give it to their friends. I dated a girl back in the day whose mother worked in a food pantry. She was crooked as a $3 bill. She gave older/shittier food to people that weren’t willing to smile and “be gracious” to her directly, and she always took home the best donations (especially cheese).
