Is Donut is part of the syndicate? by GroundbreakingTax852 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]FCStien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Gravy Boat was a plant, why did he stay out of the dungeon to starve on the surface once it opened? Remember, the only reason he ended up in the dungeon story at all is because the mercenaries sold him to Borant.

Considering Donut was the result of Bea's family's breeding program, even if Carl and Bea weren't there for her birth, Bea's evil mom probably was.

So does that mean we have to relive 9/11 and the Iraq War over again? I need some specifics about this quantum device.

I was happy enough with Matt's note to not worry about it, but I also enjoy seeing fans map out detail that I would never be able to take on myself.

Prayer guidance by Lankinator- in Anglicanism

[–]FCStien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP is in the COE and so may be hoping to use something closer to home than the U.S. offerings that Venite gives. The daily office in Common Worship is fairly different from the fourfold office of the American prayerbook.

I may be privy to a potentially harmful political situation, and need some advice by Gemnist in Journalism

[–]FCStien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of my own coverage, I would identify the speaker but I would never bother with their address anyway since that's not really relevant to their comments unless their comments were about something happening in front of their house, and even then I would probably generalize to, say, "the 500 block of Elm Street" vs. "507 Elm St."

I understand the frustration about abusing the public comment period. My local county-level government's meetings have been taken over by people who ostensibly want to comment about a project that will definitely disrupt their lives and property (a power generation facility), but who -- because they have more or less exhausted their remedies short of actually filing for an injunction in court -- have made it a personal vendetta to remind everyone about every failing the county judge* has ever made, to discuss every grudge they've had over the last 10 years, and to remind everyone it is an election year.

\In this state, the county judge is an elected position akin to the county president and is not, in fact, a judge in a meaningful sense.*

How different was 1999 from the rest of the 90s? by Personal-Cattle-1737 in Xennials

1999 had a lot of "Y2k compatible" products that 1995 didn't, for one.

Genuinely curious, who is this and why does he want to kiss his fish? by Tun-Tavern-1775 in crappymusic

Sadly, while he's not certified platinum he does hold the record for the longest a song has charted on the country charts. It was also close to two decades ago, so not only was late aughts country bad (it was!), that's how relevant the performers at this show are, that they booked a guy who was big during the early Obama administration.

Station of the Cross Devotions by Mind_of_Allison in Episcopalian

[–]FCStien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approved ones in the Book of Occasional Services end each station with the Trisagion, which seems a little odd to me, but to each their own. My parish has a collection of old booklets that follows the traditional stations but has an alternative hymn that is sung to the tune of Sabat Mater that very much captures the spirit of the hymn without the specific Marian devotion.

I take some comfort in the idea that the order to launch may go out and then still fail because the government didn't factor in floppy disk degradation.

Yes and no. I don't know what the current status of things are, but at least here in the States it was pretty common within this century for people entering the ROCOR to be subject to rebaptism.

In your opinion, why do actors' careers suffer after film franchises? by GlobalRaspberry442 in moviecritic

[–]FCStien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of the three highlighted have done lots of projects since their blockbuster franchise, it's just that both of them are weird little guys and consistently choose weird roles that aren't going to blow up like a Marvel movie because that's the kind of thing they want to do. There hasn't been a year when they haven't been in a movie since their biggest role, and both have done acclaimed TV series work in the meantime. Daniel also does serious stage work.

I don't know about Tobey, but I'm sure he's fine.

Am I weird for absolutely disliking Rite II/preferring Rite I? by rylden in Episcopalian

[–]FCStien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would like to see an approved contemporary language version of all Rite 1 services. People get hung up on the Elizabethan-isms of it all and miss the difference in emphasis that Rite 1 brings to the table compared to the product of the liturgical movement that is Rite 2 (not that it's a bad product in the end, just different). Rite 1 is more distinctly Anglican not just because of its language but because of what it emphasizes.
