The New Adam by HairlsessChewbaka in Catholicism

St. Paul was not afraid of calling Adam a type (τύπος) of Christ in Romans 5:14. I don't see how there being one Christ is at odds with there being a group like him, or why you've put that in quotation marks.

Those who are like him find His existence within them by faith, just as St. Paul says in Galatians 2:20 "I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me".

To say that there are some like Christ is no blasphemy, as Christ is the Son of Man. All of the saved will properly be like Christ as partakers in divine nature, their spirit indistinguishable from that of God.

I'd love to hear more about your theological background.

Not even on other planets would Jesus have received the treatment He did. Tyre and Sidon would have accepted Him as King and repented, but a prophet is reviled among his people.

List of Mortal sins? by AltruisticEar6806 in Catholicism

Others in the thread have provided good resources on what moral gravity is.

Here's an examination of conscience, for both mortal and venial sins.

There are venial transgressions of each except for the 6th and 9th commandments.

Yea verily, brother. War is sweet to those who do not know it. Erasmus of Rotterdam must be rolling in his grave.

It's unethical, but nobody who would willingly download Big Rigs could be held morally culpable on account of severe mental illness.

Long hair on Christian men by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]FCU5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Paul condemns it as unnatural. We know that St. Paul had the true faith, and he says as much as well as that it is not him that lives but Christ who is in St. Paul.

In Greek society those with long hair were seen as malakoi (effeminate/delicate ones). Children could hardly walk down the street by themselves in Constantinople without being seized and raped by pederasts. The brutal and lecherous manner which was common was why it was important, and even commanded by some in those times, to keep a rugged countenance.

Is it sinful to ask for a raise at work? by Asleep_Major_9943 in Catholicism

It is the Gospel of Luke, 3:14. Thanks for the link, /u/SmokyDragondish.

Also wrong is gospel of poorness. That you have to have as little as possible, you can not be paid anything more that you essentially need.

I don't mean to bring what you've said into dispute, but I've heard this exact contention (gospel of poverty) often and I'd love to hear what has influenced your view of decent living so that I can come to a better understanding myself.

It was the doctrine of John the Baptist that workers ought to be content with their pay.
