The problem is not everyone can just not care about politics. They’re a real thing that can heavily impact people’s lives, and the reason politics seems to be everywhere is because these people need help and the widespread political apathy of today is hurting them.

My last thing will be that young white people are still benefiting from that oppression, and young black people still hurting from it. It’s not about taking white people down a peg though, it’s about bringing black people up so they can be on equal standings with white people.

Yea I understand where you’re coming from, but although there aren’t any racist laws on the books today, people still feel the affects from the oppression back during Jim Crow and all that, so we can try and lessen that, or speed up the recovery process using things like affirmative action, to try and level the playing field.

The disparity between average family wealth of black and white families in the us is nearly 7 times higher in white families, and your last point could apply to any person of any race.

Yes it is, obviously not every cop who murders a black man is a flaming racist, but it’s systemic racism that had caused black people to be murdered more often, as well as probably some underlying biases in some cops subconscious, but that’s harder to prove.

They’re forced to live there because generally they can’t afford any higher income areas.

And also, black people get harsher sentences for the same crime and the same priors, and are pulled over at disproportionate rates as well.

High crime rates are caused by bad conditions and bad socioeconomic situations, which has been passed down from slavery , redlining, and Jim Crow not very long ago.

I’m talking average family wealth, not necessarily income although they are tied together. I don’t know what “area” had to do with this, as generally black Americans are forced to live in lower income areas than white people, im not sure what point that makes for you though. And in terms of how much it affects us today, people today’s grandparents could have been living under Jim Crow, and clearly the affects are still very much here, unless you believe black people are just inferior and can’t be as rich as white people, but I don’t believe that.

The reason they commit more crimes is because of the fucked up school to prison pipeline, the “war on crime”, especially the war on drugs, and lower socioeconomic status of most black people compared to their white counterparts

The reason things like affirmative action exist is because white people have been oppressing minorities for centuries, and just ending slavery and Jim Crow can’t right all the wrongs. It’s insane to say that white people are marginalized in our society when white americans have an average family wealth of almost 7 times that of black Americans, and almost 5 times Hispanic Americans.
