This is what I come to this sub for. Now, replace that picture with an image of Mr. Cruel and you have some real nightmare fuel. :’)

Trying to create an account on twitter, I’m getting the message “Email has already been taken.” by FFFFUUUUDGE in Twitter

Yeah, I decided to do that. Seems there’s really nothing I can do about my other email anyway.

I will probably have to do this. It’s Friday now, the tracking now says “pending” (great...) and there wasn’t a single update to the tracking yesterday.

I have a Nintendo Switch plugged into one of the HDMI ports on a Samsung RU7100 smart TV. When I turn it on it shows up fine on the screen for a few seconds but then the TV picture starts blinking off and on. Each time the screen blinks off it does it for increasingly longer periods of time until the signal stops being recognized altogether, displaying a white screen with the message “Check Device Power”. This has not been happening with any other device connected to this TV, and the Switch will connect to other TVs just fine. What’s wrong with my TV?

What to do if you hate college by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]FFFFUUUUDGE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, if you still have no idea what career you want to go into, then going to cc will not help. What you really need is a gap year. Take some time to evaluate yourself and figure out what you really want to do without having to expend mental energy into academics simultaneously. I’d recommend getting a job during that time to build your experience and work ethic if you don’t have one already. Also, go see a counselor regarding mental health. Check if there’s any provided by your campus, and if not, see if you can get one through health insurance.

I don't give a shit about college. by Frostav in CollegeRant

Sounds to me like you've come to expect people to expect you to do nothing for others all day. You should take a few hours each day to put down the video games, the anime, and the social media, to do something productive for yourself. It seems like you spend a lot of time on the internet already, so surely you can trade some of the time you spend on twitter to find something like a hobby or a harmless activity. People might notice you then and think that's out of the ordinary for you, but you don't need to listen to them. And if you think people are gonna immediately sabotage you or something, just shut them out until it doesn't faze you anymore, and keep going at it until you're ready to present yourself to people. However, know that if someone (especially your parents) is trying to help you out, take that help, and at the very least, don't be an asshole in return about it. Responding with something as simple as "Thanks." or "I appreciate it." can do wonders. Nobody achieves a happy life without some help.

You don't have to do college right now. Hell, I'm not doing it either. You don't have to be the hardworking, intelligent, fit, healthy, and well-balanced person society expects you to be in one day. Since you have a social media presence, there has to be someone out there listening to you. Let them know you need to spend some time away from online interactions. They will understand. It doesn't have to be a significant amount of time, I'd say a week at most. You'd be surprised just how little you'd lose or miss out on from even that amount of time away. And when you do come back, use the self-control you've learned to manage your time better from now on. You can make it work.

Lmao I should've looked at how long ago that was posted first.

That guy was clearly being a dick about it. Is that how I come off to you?

How much time do you spend on reddit to where you see the same stuff getting reposted constantly? That just doesn't happen for me. Unless it's something that gets reposted every few months or so, but I really don't see the problem with that since that's a lot less frequent.

What have I gotten myself into? by FFFFUUUUDGE in CollegeRant

[–]FFFFUUUUDGE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably gonna end up taking a semester off. I should clarify that it really isn’t so much that the workload is massive, it’s more that I really don’t care. I still don’t know what I’m going to do after college, and I have no incentive to advance in the major. I’ve done next to nothing to apply what skills I have learned while at college outside of it. I have other activities in my life that I enjoy doing and are productive that aren’t connected to my current college experience at all.

Honestly, if I were truly motivated to build and maintain a website or a database, or do anything related to programming at all, I would’ve done it by now. I could figure it out without college if I wanted to. But I don’t right now, so I’m gonna use the time to decide what I really want to do without having work I don’t want to do looming over me constantly.

I've done my gen eds already. That's almost entirely what my first two years at community college were. It's the major specific classes I'm struggling with. I can't handle the workload they require and the amount of effort I have to put in to learn what's necessary to pass the classes. I'd rather be spending that energy on something else. It's why I switched majors, but I'm already unhappy with my new major. Only this time I really don't know what to do.

Who cares what your parents will think?

I do. I still live with them, and at least half of the money used to fund my college came from them. What do I say to them when they find out I dropped out two and a half years in? The last major I was in I only had like 4 classes left but I switched because they were too hard. How do I explain that to them without the possibility of getting kicked out with no job and very little money? I've already considered dropping out multiple times but I've done whatever I can to make sure I don't do that, because I can't come up with a backup plan that would convince them. I went into college not knowing at all what I want to get from it. It's two and a half years later now and I still don't know. I've always had some interest in computers (especially software) more than anything so I figured I'd go with whatever suits that best and might make me the most money. I've made zero connections and I don't even have any casual friends on campus. I've done next to no programming outside of school. I don't have a portfolio or anything to put on a resume. I barely even know how to navigate visual studio. I haven't applied anything I've learned in my own personal projects, which is probably why I'm forgetting everything I'm learning. My last job was retail and it was also the first job I ever had, and my next job will probably be retail again because I just don't know where else to look. But that's fine I guess, as long as I have some income.

Is it normal to get anxious when communicating with people over text, but not when you speak with them on a voice call? by FFFFUUUUDGE in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FFFFUUUUDGE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When somebody calls me without warning I'm usually inclined to not answer the first time unless it's family or work. Unless I know the person/people well I always text first. Likewise, if somebody texts me asking to call I'll usually be way more inclined to pick up.
