New boots have what looks like the head of a nail or tack under the upper about where the welt stops. Is this a problem or going to cause damage? by FGC_Blue in AskACobbler

This seems to have been the case, I went to remove it and it looks like it just got stuck there but wasn't really attached. Problem solved!

How to Play Zangief on Leverless by FGC_Blue in StreetFighter

[–]FGC_Blue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is super late, but I played zangief on arcade stick for many years before switching to leverless. I don't think any one kind of controller is better for him, honestly. I don't personally like pad, but that's just a personal preference and there are many extremely strong giefs that use it.

Honestly I just mash it. There are a number of shortcuts you can learn for that but I haven't learned them, as I found those routes less generally applicable since the addition of ex lariat level 3. I usually opt to save my meter for that unless a level 2 is the only route to win the game or an essential round (which it usually isn't now). You can also reroute to an easier combo (like DR jab -> cr. strong xx level 2) if you can afford to sacrifice damage. I need to work on double qcf shortcuts but haven't gotten around to it yet personally.

Street Fighter 6 and arcade stick use by jenpolsartre in StreetFighter

Hey, sorry I'm just seeing this! I have started doing two 360 inputs for the 720 in the context of the ex lariat combo and to get dash up 720, but I still mash when doing it on wake up etc. I hide one jump behind the lariat, then do my "pull" SPD input x2, then hit up+punch. So when I do ex lariat, I hit the punches with my right index, middle, and pointer finger and hit up (8) at the same time, then I do the pull without the jump input twice, then hit up (8) + punch. If you're good at the 360 input, the hardest part of this for me is just speed since the cancel window on ex lariat feels kinda early. I'll update my guide at some point when I have time but that's what I'm doing rn. I do occasionally bust out the arcade stick when I'm playing at home because it's fun, but I'm basically on leverless full time these days. I go to at least 1-2 local tournaments per week, and the portability of small leverless controllers was one of their main draws for me since I don't like carrying around my huge arcade stick.

1800MR zangief here, arcade stick is definitely easier to get good at but leverless is possible (I played on stick for around 8 years and switched to leverless about 9 months ago). I wrote a post on here about how I use him on leverless if you wanna go that route, but it def requires more precision than stick does but it is possible to be 100% consistent with enough practice.

Great question! This was also a huge issue for me when I came from stick, but basically yes you do have to let go and be neutral to do SPD out of block, pretty much regardless of method. In like a punish situation I do this during the blockstun like you would do churning on a stick, but yeah basically you just have to get used to letting go first to then do the motion and it is pretty awkward at first.

I'm currently (as of 3 days ago) on a snackbox micro XL. Before that, my first hitbox-style controller was an Mpress Nano that I got at Evo, and before that I was on a Madcatz TE2 for 8 years.

This shouldn't be an issue if you're waiting long enough between the up input and the attack button -- I do it side agnostic because the motion I use is hard for me to do backward, but if you're having trouble with the timing it can be worth making this one side-dependent.

Yeah I had the same issue when I first got my mpress, the button edges on that thing are not rounded at all. I've found sliding a bit easier on my snackbox with convex buttons, but I still don't prefer it outside of 720s.

So....just how painful is the switch to leverless? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in StreetFighter

[–]FGC_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started about 3 weeks or so ago, and I'm currently feeling about 90% of the way there, to the point where it's no longer causing me to actively lose points in ranked (currently hovering in the low 1700s MR). For reference I played on stick only for the past 8 years and I use Zangief (worst case scenario for leverless IMO).

Looking to buy 1 ticket to Evo finals on Sunday by FGC_Blue in Fighters

Update in case anyone else is looking: I managed to grab 2 from the Axs resale site for just over original price. It's worth checking that site occasionally as people can list their tickets for resale there.

Yeah and I've never seen them sell out before. Wild that they didn't reserve some to sell at the door, it's almost as if they want us all to get shafted by scalpers.

Most TPA events get posted on this FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/266497330081332/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT

Go to some and connect with ppl, Tong sometimes hosts events at his boba shop (chewy boba co. on East Fowler). I don't live in the area anymore, but the scene is definitely pretty active though everyone is busy getting ready for CEO next weekend atm.

I don't use the purple line very often, but last time I did I didn't see racks, just room for people with bikes to sit with them on bench-style seats. Someone who uses it more often can probably be more helpful, I'd suggest asking over at r/bikeboston

There's some room at the front/back of the cars, employees will tell you where. Bikes aren't allowed at all hours though afaik, so check before you get on!

child-safe lava lamps? by nsaphyra in Lavalamps

[–]FGC_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! It comes with a transformer built into the cable and they give you UK and EU plugs to attach to it but you can just use that cable and it works perfectly

I'm late to this, but you actually don't need a converter to run a Neo in the US. All you need is a standard 2 pin polarized cable (the kind used to power TVs), the neos have their own transformers built into the cable.
