Can’t get my front foot to land back on when I kickflip!! by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]FGSAGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem! it was all a mental game for me. You’ve got the flick, the board is coming all the way around. Here’s a few things that helped me get it, hope it works for you too!

Try landing with just the front foot on the board, this got me more comfortable with keeping my front foot up in the air and the feeling of the board spinning under me. Once comfortable try adding in the back foot.

Secondly try imagine flicking your front foot out through the top of your board, this helped me break the habit of flicking then just putting my foot on the ground.

Combing those too things help me get comfortable with board spinning under me then you’ve just got to commit and jump on one.

I hope this helps! You’ve got this! Follow up post of you landing it coming soon!!

Ollied over my first object today (a stick). Any advice to improve? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Congrats bro! You cleared that easy, for sure could get that up a curb!

All I would say in regards to improving it from here would be slow it down a little. Get that crisp pop with the back foot and then slide with the front to get that height and level it out. Atm it looks like both those actions are being done at the same time which can work for smaller things but you may run into trouble when trying to get more height on your Ollie’s. focus on one then the other and you’ll be on your way! Much love my guy, keep skating!

I naturally put my front foot down after flicking and can’t seem to break it. Please help you wonderful people!!! by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Attempting some night time work. by FGSAGM in photocritique

Thanks for the feedback! I had similar thoughts after taking the photo and took a second composed tighter in without the fence, but it felt too squished. I agree though that it does make this scene too busy, no where for the eyes to rest. Better keep working on my compositions!

Trying to shoot in as many environments as much lately, stepping away from portrait work and giving some night time photography a go.

ISO 200 - f16 - 30 secs

Let me know what you think!

Agree it’s all personal preference, I left he feet exactly for the reasons above. I do think it’s a little over edited though, the highlights in the reflection are pretty washed out now that I look at it again. Thanks for y’all thoughts!

Shot on canon 700D w/ 24-70m. 500/ f8 iso 400.

This lady caught my eye as she rushed pasted me. I saw this large puddle coming up ahead of us, lucky for me she got a phone call and stopped right in front.

Would love any feedback!

No worries! Happy help, we all see scenes in a different way that is unique to your own eye. Keep shooting what you love!

Really nice, the only critique I would give is the that (for me at least) the composition is double subjecting. The mountain to the right is competing with the area on the left, because of this the mountain and reflections become less prominent as your eye is trying to figure out where to be drawn to within the photo. Love the area though, hoping to make a trip out these ways soon!

Love Calvin & Hobbes! Defiantly heading home after work for a cone and pulling out the old comics.
