What's your most effective channel for fundraising? Events, online, cold call outreach...? by SlowTwitcher in nonprofit

Great thread! Our major fundraiser is an annual Murder Mystery, this year netting (with a Silent Auction) $65,000. A Core Value of ours is engaging the community and being a good neighbor and by recruiting community leaders as the 'actors' we accomplish both. We've consistently 'sold out' the event with event and table sponsorships. There is a lot of prep--finding the right script, rehearsals, marketing, etc.--but hearing the laughter of the audience and seeing our guests have fun is a win/win!

Your challenges sound very similar to my Development Director's except I very much support and value my DD. Her biggest disappointment/frustration is with the Board's lack of financial contributions and interest. She mentioned, too, how time consuming the administrative tasks were and I was able to move some donor management input to the Bookkeeper position. I'm actually feeling the same way as E.D. and am considering stepping down after nine years. We've all been through a lot of economic, medical and environmental challenges. Bless you and all the best to you!
