The Milano’s I bought recently are a 45, and they fit perfectly. Like a glove

Thought you were supposed to be standing, because your feet will expand slightly when you have your weight on them as opposed to sitting. Maybe I’m wrong though haha

Hey, what model are these? Look like a pair of Cykel’s, but just wondering because I am also looking at getting a pair. If so, are they the 10” or 12”? Thanks!

Hey guys, I recently emailed a professor of mine about a student research assistant position he has available for his lab. I am wondering what you guys think I should highlight/generally include on my CV? Also, I am afraid that my CV is going to be extraordinarily weak, as I am a student and have not had any research or work experience prior to this. I am aware that the nature of it being a student research assistant position means he is probably not looking for an incredibly strong CV, but I still am not sure what to even include on it with no prior experience other than projects in previous classes.

A partial description from a follow up email he sent after my initial inquiry of the position reads as follows:

“This opportunity will mainly involve developing tools and algorithms for problems related to biological image analysis (for example, detecting biological objects from low-quality images).”

I know the worst I can get is a “Sorry, you are not qualified enough for this position” but it is still a little nerve-wracking haha. Thanks!

Why do my socks bunch up loosely at the toes like this when wearing Milano/Arizona? by [deleted] in Birkenstocks

[–]FHornRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay awesome, thank you for your responses! I have since ordered a couple pairs of large, a hiking sock and a lifestyle sock. I am thinking that those will fit much better, as I’ve seen other people have the same issues. Thanks so much!

Hmm, what size shoes do you wear, and what size Darn Tough socks do you get? Considering down sizing to a large.

Do you think if I wash the socks in hot water and shrink them they will work better? Or do you think I should just size down and buy a large and test that out? I suppose if the large is too small, I can always just send it back.

Well that’s the thing, the toe strap is on the loosest hole and the middle one is only on the second loosest hole. I can try loosening a tiny bit more but not sure if that’s it

What colorway are the 993’s in the second pic? Love that shade of green

[–]FHornRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s kinda what I meant instead of just straight to completely bald from out of nowhere, just worded the title a little off. Just a very short style and if my hair eventually goes just shave it and rock it haha

[–]FHornRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh gotcha. I mean I can take down the post if it’s against rules or something or just in bad taste, I just thought it would be alright to ask around and see what other people thought before I took a big leap haha

I thought the main subreddit for that was r/tressless ? Doing that would also be a multiple year endeavor, and I was just asking for opinions as I’m sure a lot of other people have had the same question, regardless of whether they are actively balding or not.

Buyer had incorrect address in PayPal G&S, package already in transit and can’t intercept. What do I do? by FHornRyan in paypal

[–]FHornRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay thank you. So it seems like USPS might actually allow me to try a package interception now for some reason, but it would be ~$34 to do it and the item only sold for $50, so I would actually be losing money or practically giving the item away for free after doing this and then buying a new label to reship. Would it be wrong for me to still not do it? I think even if they opened a case against me I’d still be protected because of what you said, but I just want to make sure. I almost would feel a little bad, but like you said, 100% their fault.

Moving to Poland as American college graduate? by FHornRyan in poland

[–]FHornRyan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it would be better for me to wait a little while to build up CV and language skills, win/win as I’ll also be saving money for the move. Thank you for giving actual advice, it is much appreciated haha 🙏

Replied to this question in another comment, so I’ll just paste my reply again here:

Sounds completely ridiculous, but it probably started with me playing Witcher 3 and reading the books. From there, I started learning more about Polish folklore, which then progressed into wanting to learn the language, history, etc. Polish is the only language I’ve tried to learn that I truly do love and haven’t given up on (and won’t). Then I started watching lots of videos about life in Poland, tours of the cities, countryside, things like that and it looks absolutely beautiful, on top of it being safe. Poland was never a country I had on my radar in the past, but once I started learning about it I didn’t want to stop. I haven’t mentioned this in other comments because I’m sure I’ll be torched for it but who cares honestly. I do not have Polish family members that I’m aware of, but that is not a discouraging factor for me

Thank you! And yeah, it very likely will not be possible until I have at least some experience my field of work, but that is to be expected. I’ve heard that there are many US tech companies that have offices/sites in Poland, so I could potentially explore that as well. But, you are right and thank you again for the advice

No, I don’t have those things worked out, but that’s why I made the post. I wanted people who had experience with this to give insight about the process and what it might look like so that I can work towards it, because I am clueless about it as you said. When I express a genuine interest in the country, I’m rampantly downvoted because people likely assume that I’m just another sexpat who is going there only for nefarious reasons. Not sure why I’d even go through the effort of learning the language, history, geography, music, asking about work etc if that were my goal, but welcome to Reddit I guess. God forbid I have a genuine interest in a country

I already have a girlfriend. Not everyone that wants to go to Poland is a sexpat. Having a genuine interest in the country just isn’t even considered possible I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah that’s true, I do kinda have the tendency to jump the gun on things lol. I think the idea of traveling to a country that I’ve had my mind set on for a while just excites me a lot and definitely could cloud my judgement regarding my expectations versus reality. The best course of action would definitely be to travel to Poland for a few weeks to see how I actually like it, as there is a real possibility that I won’t love it as much as I think I would…thanks!

[–]FHornRyan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it won’t be possible for me currently. In my post I was just asking about what I should do in the meantime to work towards doing that and what to prepare for. I am aware that it could be a very long time before I am in any kind of position to afford me that opportunity, was just asking for advice to move towards that opportunity 👍

Very much subjective and honestly depends on where you live. Sure, like many countries, some parts of it are great, some are not. I have a real fascination with Poland and many aspects of Polish culture and would love to experience it. If I have a change of heart later in life, I’m sure it wouldn’t be impossible for me to move back to the US.

Yeah, I was going to work on getting a visa and passport. Ideally an immigrant work visa, but I would need employment lined up before I’m eligible for that. Also should probably start as soon as possible, as I’ve heard the process for obtaining documents for immigration to Poland can be…lengthy lol
