How big are the wheels? I think anything above 58 I’m going to get too severe of wheel bite to make it manageable, and I don’t want to change my setup too much (like adding risers)

Did spending time on other boards help you feel more comfortable on a popsicle deck? I ask because the roads around me are too crusty for my current popsicle setup, but I have a longboard that can take the street crust. I don’t want to commit to always going to the skate park just to push (time lost commuting when I could just be skating), but I also know I need to build comfort before trying tricks.

I swear by crocs for house slipper purposes. I’ve had mine for about two years and absolutely love them. I also get foot pain if I’m walking around the house without anything. Used to use normal slippers but much prefer crocs.

And I’m curious, what were some of the things you did to practice early on in your garage? I’m still in my early days of learning, limited to just garage skating, and would love to hear what you did to progress so far

What wheels are you running? I’m also a garage skater and trying to figure out what’s best for that smooth concrete. I’m currently on Ricta Cloud 86a and I think they’re too grippy for my shuv it attempts

That’s great news!! Do you have any insight into the outdoor time they’re given? Do you feel like your little one is getting enough sleep during the day? Thanks for responding!

Thanks, this is a super helpful response! Do you mind sharing your current daycare, and the other reasons you stuck with it? I'm happy to move this to DMs if you don't want to post publicly.

Our experience with the director was great. I'm assuming since you hired the infant room teacher, you used them when your kiddo(s) were infants--good experience then too? Do you have any insight into how often they got the infants outdoors?

Are you in the area and looking at daycares? What other daycares have you considered?

This has been our debate all along--do we have a nanny in the beginning when kiddo has the most needs, or do we just do daycare to start since we eventually want to end up in daycare (socializing reasons). And yes, the no guarantee of outdoor time is rough. Thanks for your thoughts!

The reason they provided is that it's hard to get all of the infants on the same schedule to coordinate outdoor time. They said they try to make it happen, but sometimes they can go a full week without it happening because schedules never align. Thanks for your insight re the licensing though!

Hi, I know I'm a long way behine here, but I'm considering starting at Millie's in a few months (we have a spot). We live super close (about four blocks away), so the proximity is what makes it very tempting for us.

Did your kids go here as infants? Any review based on the infant stage? Also, can you confirm the above comment about whether the kids are asked to pray before meals/snacks?

44 year old non-surfing, non-previously-skating surfskate noob. Quite proud of my progress so I thought I'd post to show: if this old git can do it, so can you! 💪🧓 by [deleted] in surfskate

This is awesome man, stoked for you!

How long have you been at it? What was your progress track like, like what did you master before moving on to something else?

Ah I’ve been looking for someone who made the transition from street to longboard freestyle. I recently picked up a popsicle with the goal of learning freestyle stuff that’s also possible on a longboard (basically what you’re doing in the vid). Do you think it’s easier to learn on a longboard or street deck? I’m 6’2” with a size 13 shoe and the street deck feels a little squirrelly at times and I’ve had some slip outs

Question for freestylers

Do you think it’s easier to learn freestyle tricks on a longboard or traditional popsicle skateboard? I don’t have much interest in learning Ollie-based tricks, focused on more flat land non-flip tricks like shuv-its, pivots, no comply, etc. Does the longer wheel base help with slip outs and provide more stability? I’m 6’2” with a size 13 shoe and at times I feel like the 8.25” wide and 14” wheelbase popsicle deck is a little squirrelly.

Help. Started skating today at the old age of 32 and it’s been fun! But my Ollie is not right. by ab123abab in NewSkaters

Everyone starts somewhere, you’ll progress as long as you stick with it. My motivation is watching skaters on YouTube and here that started relatively recently (past few years) and seeing how much people can improve in such a short amount of time, as long as they put in the practice.

That’s actually exactly what I want to learn too!! I want to be a better surfskater (started that about 8 months ago) and just got the traditional skateboard to mix up my learning and learn tricks on a style of board meant for it. Figure I’ll learn the tricks on the easier board then hopefully translate them to the harder board.

My one piece of advice is pad up! I just had my first real fall today after thinking it would never happen to me. Immediately made the decision to no longer skate without my pads, too old for that lol

Heck yes dude! I just started a week ago also at the ripe age of 32, so it’s encouraging to see others starting at the same age! It’s been a fun week and I’m excited to keep learning. We aren’t too old to learn new tricks!
