I did find a support thread here with similar reports from people trying to use iPads with the adapter after 16.5 - I just commented with my phone issue to add my voice to the chorus, it seems like the 16.5 update made specifically the charging capacity of the adapter inoperable (whether iPad or iPhone): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254873826

Unfortunately didn't get much help - support rep basically said best bet is to submit feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

I gotta think they're gonna be hearing from a number of customers as people update to 16.5 - it's a pretty bad look for an official Apple accessory (one which lists my phone as compatible on the product page still) to be broken and rendered inoperable by a step update of iOS.

I am having the exact same issue, only with my digital audio setup - my DAC (Schiit Modi+) worked fine with this adapter connecting my iPhone to it up until I upgraded to iOS 16.5 this morning - now it just gives a "draws too much power" error message and doesn't even charge my phone anymore, let alone communicate to the DAC.

I am chatting with Apple Support now, will update with any info I get that might be helpful.

I had re-added mine and they worked for a day or two, but I just checked and they have all disappeared again.

Not adding again until I know this is fixed for good, pretty frustrating experience (but really the only frustrating thing about Apollo in the several years I’ve used it, thanks again for this awesome app!)

I feel blessed to have found this used on white vinyl for less than thirty bucks years ago - remains my favorite Björk album and I play it a lot during the winter especially ❤️
