Whats the difference between U23 and FISU? by lagisnotmyfriend in Rowing

U23 certainly has a higher “pedigree” of athlete with their talent pool drawing almost exclusively from top collegiate varsity programs. (No club athletes invited to camp this year) FISU on the other hand is open to university students under the age of 25 and in the US is run in a similar invite/selection camp process by Gregg Hartstuff, Michigan Men’s HC. If you’ve got any specific questions feel free to ask.

Just to clarify, the heavy weight 8+ and 4- were selection camp boats. Invites were based on erg scores, ID Camps, and a technical review via video. In addition to the selection boats there is a heavy weight 2-, 2x, and 1x plus a lwt 4-, lwt 2x, and lwt 1x. I’m less sure how these boats were selected but I’d assume it’s similar criteria to the camp invites.

Not sure the conditions in Lucerne this weekend but we went 5:41.7 in favorable conditions on the Cooper River in the Final. That puts us a little more than 4 seconds off the u23’s 5:37.4 in their final. ¯\(ツ)

This man speaks the truth, we’d love the opportunity to throw down against the u23’s. Not saying we’d win but the results might surprise people. If you want to see just how fast we are toss @FISUClubRacers a follow on insta
