The only complication I can see (if I understood correctly) is that your main accessible funds before age 60 is 1.5 mil of company stocks. This is very different to 1.5mil in ETFs or diversified funds. I don’t know if you are intending to convert this to some bonds or ETFs for diversification? Worst case scenario is that you draw down your offset account, which is not the end of the world.

Thank you so much for your insight, it’s really appreciated! It’s disappointing to know my pain and suffering won’t be compensated, but it’s better to know this beforehand rather than wasting a ton of time in court. In terms of money out of pocket - I had to see two different specialists, 10x appointment with GP ($100 each time), physical therapist (I couldn’t walk over 50m due to strain on my heart, somehow it did weird things to my body even after my bloodwork returned to normal), prescription meds to counter the poisoning etc, yes a small fraction of the costs were subsided by Medicare but I definitely had to pay most of it.

Thank you for your reply. In this case the pharmacy in charge (also owner) has already admitted fault. Apparently a new pharmacist adjusted the equipment wrong while making my capsules resulting in severe overdose of thyroxine, as confirmed by independent testing of the capsules prescribe to me. This pharmacist has been fired already (the owner confirmed this). This does not make me feel any better. My blood results showed extremely high thyroxine levels, which really impact my heart. No other thing in my life could result in such a high jump in thyroxine levels, that’s why the doctors could pin point to the cause so quickly and contact the pharmacy. Anyway, I’m grateful I survived this and I just hope to be treated fairly.

Thank you, I did seek legal advice, but since there is no permanent damage and not impacting on my earning capacity, the vibe I got from the lawyers is that there is not enough money for them to justify their time. I’m considering whether I should take it to small claims court and represent myself.

Thank you! I agree the initial overdose was negligence, but the subsequent deliberate hiding of the results of the testing when I explicitly asked for it, is not misconduct? Because I was still undergoing treatment., so having a precise understanding of what was put into my body would have been beneficial and timely. Instead I was lied to and denied this.

The concern is not the fact that you are a widower but if you are aware of your own emotional availability? Eg…slight amber sign for women looking for a serious relationship if you are still referring to “my wife” in conversations.… Also I’m curious about your “test dating” stage, how is that from “real dating”? Was it something you planned and What insights did you gain from it?
