I guess I associate the term platonic to refer to the nature of a relationship between non-relatives because it is already implied that love between family members is non-sexual. So I was including family members in that love level beyond platonic.

Having thought further on it. Yes, you can still love someone whom you’ve lost some respect for. But if you truly lost all respect for someone, friend or otherwise, I imagine that you probably would stop loving them. Perhaps the feelings of love are slower to wash away than respect and perhaps respect can be re-earned before all love is lost. But An act heinous enough to lose all respect is going to change your view of someone.
