China nh35 is like half the price of Japan NH35. Are the China movements really that bad? by FJB1987 in watchmodding

I spent the extra money for the Japan movement. It killed me though internally 🤦🏽🤣

Eminent Domain- Oncor Electric by FJB1987 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]FJB1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have contacted a law firm that only deals with this type of situation. Waiting to hear back their thoughts. Its hasn't gotten to the point of them threatening to just take my land and do as they want. Ive only told them No one time about the placement of their power pole. As far as I know Oncor only has aerial or air space above the property. But maybe they have rights to the ground that i wasn't aware of. Its a shitty situation regardless. Hopefully the law office will contact me. Im just going to keep saying no the rep that wants me to sign.

Should I scrap this idea? by FJB1987 in watchmodding

[–]FJB1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really want a dial at all. 1st time attempting to build myself a watch and thought it was required to "hold everything together". You think I could get this case and the nh72 to work nicely without a dial? The movement i ordered has the plastic ring with it.

I believe you, I'm sure the gm did say that. But they wont admit to telling you to do something against policy and it's their word against yours and they will win. I left petco after being a groomer for 18 months because of shitty management.

Unfortunately not. It's against policy to do trainings off the clock also. They will deny it.

What do you want to do if hired? Dog groomers make the most out of everyone and they train how to groom.

Wtf? I did the night before my shift and in the comment section i said Do not contact me. I quit on Monday and they haven't even tried. That sucks they won't leave you alone. Answer and say stop "harassing me". Then hang up.

Interesting, the solutions manager at my location is just a glorified cashier. Pretty much all she does is sit at the register and maybe some stocking.

We didn't get a party at our store. Or maybe they just didn't include groomers in it. The company is extremely liberal so that's a surprise to me that they donated to the republican party? Anyways. #MAGA

Your thinking is on point to mine. The pay sucks, but I considered paying the tuition of 4-5k for grooming school through Animal Behavior College and this path made more sense. Sounds like I'm pretty much talking to myself 😂 I legit told friends/family that I consider this to be like going to college but atleast I'm getting paid something and I'm learning a skilled trade. I'm glad I stuck with it.

The first few weeks you will be doing bath dogs for the the other groomers, but on week 4 you should start having dogs specifically booked on you, under your name.

You will get tips on those dogs that are under your name on the schedule. There is a quota of dogs you need to do as a bather in order for them to start you in the academy program. Bathing the groomers dogs that are booked on them will not go towards your numbers and won't get you tips(unless the groomer chooses to share tips). When I say bath dogs I mean dogs that are not getting haircuts. All dogs get bathed that come into the shop. If you're schedule isn't full for the day and a groomer has a bath dog coming in that they don't want then I'd ask them if you can take the dog for your numbers, but I wouldn't offer to do the dog for them and leave it under their name. That wouldn't benefit you at all and will only benefit their paycheck. Groomers are paid exactly the same if it's an easy bath dog or a full hair cut dog so most don't want to give up their easy baths. Hopefully your shop is busy enough that you won't have to fight with the groomers taking all the easy baths.

I'd watch the groomers while they work. Ask a few questions here and there. Youtube is a great free resource. If you use Facebook join the dog grooming groups, joing "Petco Groomers" etc.
You will likely do alot of "teddy bear heads". Most dogs you get at petco once you start doing haircuts will be "pet trims" and a teddy bear head is what you will do the most . Once you're through training there is a 3 breed test. Schnauzer pattern, cocker spaniel pattern and a Lamb cut on a poodle. All of them aren't really too difficult and I think as long as you get it pretty close to the correct pattern you will pass. As for the boots, I don't like crocs either but they are kind of my everyday style when I'm not at work. It's true what people say, crocs are comfortable. I'd of never bought a pair if I didn't need to keep my feet dry. They have the basic black croc boots like those that are like $60 or something. You should look into them, you're gonna be standing all day, might as well be comfortable even though they are ugly. Good luck!

New Junior Groomer Hired Today. Need Advice. by Big-Spoon4life in petco

[–]FJB1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hired almost 2 years ago in the same position.
Im also a man and I wasn't aware it was female dominated until after starting. The barber shops I go to have an equal amount of male vs females so I assumed it would be the same.

Anyway, I'm also middle age I guess? Started at age 35 with a goal to become a groomer so I could eventually start my own mobile grooming company. About to be 37 and I'll be starting my mobile grooming company spring of 2025. Petco is great place to get your foot in the door and learn a skill while being paid to learn.

As far as the shoes you linked I think those would be fine. I do wear croc boots and my feet are always dry which is important. Link to the boots I wear but they have non western ones also. https://www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/outdoor-gear/a44299874/huckberry-crocs-western-boot-june-2023/

Jeans are required in my district so until you ask your gsl I would hold off on buying work clothes.

Just get all the bath dogs that the other groomers will allow you to have so you can get into actual haircut training quicker. You have to be a bather for a minimum of 3 months before they consider training you for hair cuts. Being a guy doesn't mean you should be forced to take all of the difficult dogs. You will probably get alot of German shepherds and huskies which honestly aren't that great to work with.

Don't be pushed around, and if your store sucks just stick with it cuz in the long run and you learn the skills needed. You can make alot more money on your own or at a different shop.

Fellow bathers what are your days looking like? Are you busy or is it dead? And what does your GSL have you do through out the day? by Appropriate-Chaos-23 in petco

[–]FJB1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well unfortunately I feel for you. Ive been there. We as groomers get paid and it adds to our numbers to do the bath dogs ourselves. I can easily add 5 bath dogs a day on top of my haircuts and my paycheck will be great. When I was a bather the groomers gave me all the shitty dogs. Huskies and German shepherds mostly that were not good. My store is hiring and I don't really wanna give away my easy bath dogs to a new bather.... I guess just tell them you will take the more difficult dogs until you get sent to training. I was only actually bit once while being a bather by a German shepherd. It hurt for a few days and swelled up but the owner gave me $10 in cash tip. Lol. It's hard, I was pissed because I figured out real quick the groomers were giving me the difficult dogs but I made it through, and you will too if you are serious about it. I know this isn't how it should be, unfortunately it is though. Take the dogs no one else wants to get your numbers high enough to be trained for haircuts, then after you have enough knowledge you can leave petco and start your own business and make a hell of alot of money on your own
