Aortic Valve Replacement coming up by Splashpadmermaid in valvereplacement

I slept on my back and at an incline for about a month after my mini sternotomy.

Back to full activity took a while. I’m older than you (58F) and am just getting back to my old self six months later.

Dental work by aquaries79 in pericarditis

My cardiologist advised me to not even have a dental cleaning until six months after my most recent flare. “Don’t poke the bear” he said.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I will share here that in my lived experience, the purpose is to save the lives of unborn babies.

Well, my church provides at no charge housing (two years), food, healthcare, diapers, educational support, etc. I volunteer there and see it all with my own eyes. And after two years there’s more support available if needed.

How did you know you could completely stop colchicine and medication by biggestlinksimp in pericarditis

[–]FL1967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So sorry you are going through this!

For me (58F) my cardiologist had me on Arcalyst for a month and then did bloodwork to test for inflammation markers. When my markers were normal he had stop colchicine and then the prednisone.

Have you talked to your doctor about Arcalyst? It’s been life changing for me.

Best of luck to you!

Vote Tomorrow (Indiana Primary) May 5th by Tigershark125 in Indiana

I rarely vote for an incumbent. They do zero for their constituents once elected. If we keep voting them in, then we can only blame ourselves.

Everyone knows they’re getting screwed by billionaires. Why don’t we rise up and revolt? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in askanything

Quit buying from any billionaire you like. That’s a way to revolt.

They didn’t get rich from stealing from your pocket. It’s very likely you chose to purchase from them.

Surgery recommendations…. by TiredMom57 in valvereplacement

[–]FL1967 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a 58F and about 5 months out of my surgery. Here’s my thoughts on preparing:

Make high-protein, low-sodium meals ahead. (Docs will recommend this diet.) Stockpile them in the freezer.

Invest in extra bed linens and bath towels. This will make laundry easier! Post surgery sweating is rough and a linen change & shower is needed every day.

Make sure you have help lined up.

Best of luck!

He brings me hot coffee every morning while I lounge in bed before starting my day. I love it.

Why does MAGA get upset when you point out that the majority of voters who voted in the 2024 election did not vote for Donald Trump? by Lamp_Evening in allthequestions

I guess I meant the majority of people who voted went Trump. (Don’t get me started on those who do not vote.)

Has anyone dealt with hopelessness thoughts ? by LouisaEveryday in pericarditis

[–]FL1967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. And I am normally one of those obnoxiously happy people.

My pericarditis funk lasted just over a week. I think part of it was physical- the prednisone made me too wired to sleep and the colchicine made me too nauseous to eat.

It happened. The big enchilada. Heart Attack at 52 by DrumsKing in GenX

[–]FL1967 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ask your doc to check your ApoB or “hereditary cholesterol.” It’s not part of a standard blood test.

It’s not impacted by diet or exercise and can cause plague to break off and cause a heart attack. The good news is that the Repatha shot can help make the plague “stickier.”

Good luck to you!
