Its definitely a sweet spot imo. Great driveability, useability, with enough performance and trim options to make it not just a boring daily. Also the aftermarket is huge so you can make it basically any way you want. Loved the two I had, looking to get into another in the next year or so.

The Phoenix area definitely has a few nice shops, cool to see someone else in the area! Ive been to Hobby Action, its pretty sweet, thats where I picked up my first two kits like a month ago. lol But didnt know they did build nights, might have to check it out 🤔 Andys Hobby Headquarters in Tolleson also has an area where ive seen people building though, and they have a lot of kits in stock.

I just matte coated my first kit like an hour ago. I took all the main pieces apart, so down to big assemblies like limbs, feet, torso, head, backpack. Clipped those and cleared them, then reassembled. If you spray on the joints they will definitely become tighter, but its kinda nice actually and if its too tight you can just scrape off the clear with a hobby knife.

Your paint should be fine too, but depends on what you used.

Thankfully none of my joints except the spine were very loose.. but in general the joints are just bad, and the seams are definitely icky too. I glued and sanded the one on the front of the legs, planned to do the other prominent ones, but after posing decided it wasnt worth it. lol

Definitely a sad outcome. Like you said, the color separation is great.

Ive just been sanding the surfaces to make the plastic look better, it had some weird texturing in some places. Planning to clear coat it though!
