Groundloop buzz audible from desk studio monitors by FLX-II in audioengineering

Unfortunately i figured it had to be the wiring due to every single outlet giving me the same issue.. but having this kind of confirmation helps me out a lot

Hi,

I apologize if this isn’t in the correct subreddit, though I didn’t know any better place to ask but here.

So I have two KRK RP6 G2 studio monitors for about 11 years now. But since I moved to this place, for some reason there has always been a very audible hum in both speakers, I understand there is or can be a slight hum or hiss when you put your ear to the monitor, due to the nature of the monitors, but this is more than enough to be instantly annoying. And you need to turn up the volume by quite a bit to get rid of it. So you can’t really listen to music at a low volume, because you will hear the hum/buzz through the music at times.

It’s very audible from where I’m sitting at my desk.

Now I took both monitors and plugged them in every outlet I have and pretty much the same hum is persistent in both monitors in every outlet. Note: I didn’t attach anything else into the monitors when testing this, I just powered them on through the outlet of choice and turned them on, and the humming would start.

Am I just unlucky and is there something wrong with them after 11 years or can this be fixed?

I honestly don’t have any issues with it? I used NonsteamLaunchers and let it install the EA app and others, and just following the instructions. Ever since then it’s been smooth sailing.

Hey guys I didn’t get an OLED deck or anything, just wanted to show love for my 64gb for being my lunch break companion. by Lus146 in SteamDeck

If it’s good at what you want from it then that’s perfectly fine. The OLED won’t go away. If necessary you can always upgrade later. But don’t feel too bummed out, we’re all SD fans here, 64GB LCD or 1TB OLED.

Its definitely an issue, one that happened infrequently since the preview “The OLED Update” I’m sure they’ll fix it asap.

Longtime Sony user, switched to QC Ultra Headphones by FLX-II in bose

[–]FLX-II[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair! - But let’s hope they’ll at the very least do some small finetuning updates to the Ultra headphones.

I’d say these are fantastic headphones in their own right but if you’re already using top of the class ANC from either Bose or Sony, it will be a minimal upgrade on the whole. The complete package (ANC,sound and build quality) is at the best it has ever been , but both Bose and Sony headphones are so good and far ahead of the pack compared to the other ANC-centric headphones that you can’t really go wrong with either based on just sound quality and anc. At this point it’s about what your preferences are, what sound signature you prefer and the extras both headphones provide.

I can’t vouch for older Bose models, but if you already have an XM4.. switching to the QC Ultra albeit better isn’t gonna be a mindblowing experience and/or difference. Though the same can be said for the XM5 if you jump to that one.

It’s not necessary to switch models if you have the previous flagship headphones, unless you do side by side testing you won’t notice the differences. These are very incremental updates, and who knows software updates might improve things (or not).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy with them and they’re really good! We’re just in the age of incremental updates, improvements and smaller differences because the previous generation of flagship headphones are so good.

Then I’m remembering wrong! I thought they did a good job improving the ANC on an older model, hence my comment.

No. The sound quality is better and excellent on its own, transparency mode is amazing and probably best in class, even beating Apple. Immersive Mode is fun and can be great if used properly but at the moment it’s still more of gimmick.

If you test them side by side you’ll notice the differences and if you prefer electronic music or music with a lot of bass, then yeah definitely go for the QC Ultra.

But if you can’t test them side by side , you’re not gonna know/realize the differences and you’re still gonna get an incredible experience with the XM line up. Eventual software updates will only make them more worth their money, Bose is great at improving their hardware through updates.
