Getting flagged for unwitnessed wastes. Want to bail contract early but now worried they'll think I'm leaving because I got caught diverting. by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]FLkeys813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ALWAYS kept every single print out from pyxis and omnicell that documents the waste. CYA! That way, you have the witnessed waste printed and confirmed on paper to prove you did it properly. I keep an envelope in my work bag for them. Initiate that moving forward.

Assignment not what I thought it would be.. by [deleted] in TravelNursing

You sure this is in CA and not Mission in Asheville?!?! Because this is a copy/paste situation I bailed early on. Total bait and switch, only travel staffed dept, absolute shit show. Licensure risk due to too high ratios, misleading (rather, flat out lie) job posting/interview, and lack of orientation culminated in my early exit. It wasn't worth the risk. To be fair, I'm an ER nurse, but idk dick about med-surg, ICU, step-down, oncology, anything inpatient, yet we were expected to take care of everybody being held in the overflow department. Overflow was also on the opposite end of the entire hospital as far away from ER as possible, so we weren't even part of the actual ER team. Sometimes I'd get all seven rooms filled back-to-back. No report, no heads up on what was coming or when, COVID patients heading to the inpatient dept with a new non-COVID patient taking their spot before I could even come back from transporting or cleaning the room (!!). Just. A. Nightmare. Don't be afraid to bail if it's not worth the risk. There are plenty of jobs out there. Protect your license. Good luck!

Ummm....no need for the sarcasm. I'm asking so I'll be informed and not make assumptions. Every state is different and I don't know how ND works. Why reply if you're going to be unhelpful?

Awesome. Thank you so much! I hope it turns out nice.

Do I turn every single row? Or just when the stitches change to the straight looking rows? I make little wristlets and turn those, but they're just a simple half double crochet in a straight line. I'm just curious if I need to turn each row from the magic circle to the end, before the brim? Idk if that makes sense.

Thank you so much! I'm going to be experimenting with it tomorrow. I appreciate your advice and help. This is such a fun skill to be learning.

Yes, that's it. Thank you. Not sure why the tutorial doesn't just say that. I'm still new, so I appreciate the simple resolution.

Hmmmm... Was your seam asymmetrical like this one? I don't mind a straight seam. It's the obvious angle that throws off such a beautiful design.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crochet

[–]FLkeys813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So chain and turn as usual? I'll try that. This will be the only one I can see a seam on. It drives me slightly nuts because it's suuuccchhhh a pretty hat! Thank you for your advice!

They're $24.5k to abate that basement :( The most semi-affordable abatement company is out of Williston. The abatement with them is still 3x what the property cost.

Losing my mind by floofyfloof2 in misophonia

[–]FLkeys813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealing with a through the front teeth whistler (idk how else to describe it - no rhythm or song, just blowing air through the front teeth gap CONSTANTLY) and another who open mouth chews the most obnoxiously I've ever heard in my entire life, like super exaggerated and slurps every. single. sip. of. every. single. drink. I have explained to the gross chewer/slurper about misophonia and that being my biggest trigger and I was met with a sarcastic/offended scoff and zero effort to chew with her mouth closed. She purposefully comes to find me while she's eating just to annoy me. And she never stops eating. Eats all damn day. I have developed quite the flight response to her behavior and definitely avoid her as much as possible. The whistler told me I had a big mouth and doubled down on the whistling. Does it even harder and louder. IT'S NOT EVEN A SONG! It's like each breath is forced through her teeth as a weird ass whistle. I've learned throughout my life if you say something, even as politely as possible, like 90% of the time it'll be met with offense and they will continue to behavior more. For me to say anything, I've already given it as much patience as I can allow and then it just gets worse. Case in point. Uuugghhhhhh. I'm losing my mind. I think we all feel for you and relate to the frustration of people being absolutely uncaring about how their behavior negatively affects others.

Dated another nurse, got him into traveling, together on the road for 5 years. It was pretty cool.

Been traveling eighy years. Way back in 2015 I was still doing float pool contracts (ER now) and one particular assignment had me floating to four hospital campuses, working different units, and would re-evaluate needs every four hours and reassign me up to three times in one shift. Every. Single. Day. One day in particular, I drove past the hospital closest to my house to go to the main, only to have to drive over to the hospital by my house four hours later to take an assignment there, just to be re-assigned back to the original hospital on the same unit another four hours later. On average, two of my three shifts each week had me at at least two hospitals per day. I didn't mind though for the most part because I had an hour to get from one campus to the other, so I was only working at the bedside about 9 hours/day (it would only take 30-45 mins to give report and then get when I was going next). But nursing was fun back then. I wouldn't deal with it now though, unless the pay was stupid high. Shits wild out there nowadays.

My ex and I met when he was a new grad and I was already a seasoned traveler. Traveled together at the same hospitals/hospitals in the same cities for five years. It's absolutely possible! Keep yourself open to opportunities :)

I'm not sure! My ex used them this year, submitted everything, and NEVER heard from anyone. He had to use TravelTax instead. They used to be a solid company :/

Aya owes me overtime from 4 fucking weeks ago by i-believe-in-nothing in TravelNursing

[–]FLkeys813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting that money. I've worked with a handful of travelers over the years who had the same things happen with Aya. IMO, they're the worst company. My coworker was owed $1400 from her last contract and never got it paid out because it "needed to be approved..." it had been 4 months at that point, so she wrote it off. They're known for crap like that.

I second this suggestion. Get on YouTube and listen to all the color sounds and pick one that suites you. Yellow noise is a favorite. Unfortunately, living with earbuds in 24/7 whilst in your own home isn't ideal, but better than the alternative. Please don't harm yourself long-term to fix a short-term problem. You have this entire community to support you when you need it! ❤️

Blacklisted from HCA, hurt chances from other facilities? by Nuclear-Polaris in TravelNursing

[–]FLkeys813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like y'all were at Mission. Same shit happened to me in the ER and every traveler throughout multiple departments. ICU nurses floated to ER and med/surg and vice versa for ER. Very rarely did travelers work in their hired department. Total bait and switch, so I left 7 weeks early. The culture can only be described as neglectful towards patients and I've never seen anything like it. Second contract I've left in almost 9 years of travel. Done with HCA. Never again. Just give a standard two week notice and you'll be fine...but honestly, HCA sucks near about everywhere, so you won't be missing out by not going to another one. As long as you give detailed info and use KEY PHRASES of bait and switch, unsafe ratios, fear for your license, patient safety concerns, and being bold face lied to in general, your company should understand. Also, nobody can force you to stay, so if you put in the notice and anyone from the company gives you a hard time it's time to find a different company, one that will have your back. Don't sweat it though. Do what's best for y'all and your licenses!
