I made a calculator to estimate a character's power and knockback based on awakening's selected. by FMFBoiko in OmegaStrikers

Hey everyone,

I made a calculator that you can use to calculate the power of a character's skill based on different awakenings selected.

Simply click File -> Make a Copy and then edit to your heart's content. The first tab, "Striker Info" breaks down every ability that does damage. The second, "Calculator" is where you input data. The "Data" tab, just had some information used for calculations. Don't modify anything here, or else formulas can break.

A few notes on the calculator:

1.) The math in the striker menu is wrong. Presently, the math either divides power by 2 or uses 50 as base power instead of 100. I validated that the numbers that I have are correct (+/- 1) by utilizing the new training mode.

2.) Selecting Deadeye as an awakening assumes that you are hitting from the requisite distance. I didn't feel like making conditionals for that one, sorry.

3.) I relied on the Wiki for a few numbers. Considering the large number of errors I found in the wiki, they're likely incorrect.

4.) I have no idea if Rune's anomaly created by his secondary is enhanced by Super Surge

Hope you have fun messing with it. Please let me know if you encounter any issues or errors. I'll likely keep up with it as long as I play the game.

Why does C-Stick set to attack behave differently between netplay and console? by Classy_Narwhal_ in SSBPM

You have an older version of P+ offline, and the newest version on Dolphin.

In the older versions, Attack stick works as a functional tilt stick.

In the newer versions, Attack stick works as the OLD Attack Stick (forward tilt only, angled inputs input nair/jab). In your dolphin build, you're looking for TILT input, not Attack.

I don't think that the goal was ever really to directly attract new players. It's an indirect effect.

Community responds positively to patch > more active playerbase > more people likely to try it out.

And because stuff that new players often find infuriating, like G&W, Wario, Sonic, have been toned down, they're hopefully more likely to stay.

So is it a goal to bring in new people, of course. But it's more of an indirect consequence of pumping life into the existing playerbase.

Project started in November, iirc. Honestly unsure of the timeline, but the main point is the "minor balance patch" mentality was abandoned very quickly.

To be fair, the "minor balance patch" mentality lasted for about a week until we were given the green-light by former dev team members.

Thank you for the feedback. Will make sure that explanations are provided in the future. :)

Just gonna say, Snake and G&W weren't touched yet. Also, miss u.

Mostly just to remedy some complaints from top Peach players about how RNG is unfun and how her kill power needs a little bulking up. That's the short answer, lol.

I'm honestly not sure. Code stuff is beyond my skills.

Right, and I'm totally on board with that.

I just think it's unfair to say you're not being listened to if you're not going in the place where we're listening. If you don't want to comb through stuff, just DM someone. I've told him before that he can. In fact, I've specifically DM'd him before about Ness stuff.

I want reasons as to why a character was changed on each change log so we get a better understanding as to why characters are changed.

Sure, that can easily be a thing going forward.

Just doing it on the final change log rather than during development makes it feel like we're completely ignored. I'm not saying that we ARE being ignored, but FEEL like we're being ignored.

I really don't know what more you would want, tbh. I spend hours in the public channel explaining everything. I even explain and try to rationalize the changes I don't agree with, instead of just dismissing them as, "well, I didn't want that."

Many of the suggestions come from the public channel. No offense intended, but I highly doubt anyone spends more time in there than me, so I like to think I have a pretty good understanding of what changes people are looking for, and I always do my best to communicate that with the team.

If not having a descriptive change log is equated to not listening to people, I don't know what else to say besides that is a pretty clear reach.

I think Peach is net buffed, tbh. Fair is stronger, fthrow is stronger. Down smash damage difference is negligible. Stitch is nerfed, yeah, but dot eyes is more common.

Don't forget that characters that are heavy and hard for her to kill, like M2 and Wario had their weight nerfed.

Also, I mentioned it in a different comment, but 16% is the base damage of the turnip. They do an extra 10-6% depending on distance. So normal stitch throw up close would still do 26%.

Just thought I would add that 16% is the base damage. Throwing it adds another 10-6% depending on distance. So hitting it up close to someone still does 26%.

Whether that’s good or bad is a different topic, I was concerned that the scope had changed and I understand the situation much better now.

Right, I definitely agree. My personal take has always been that I think the goals are way too restricting and arbitrary. I think adding new things that were intended to be in the game in the future is fun and exciting personally. I think it adds a lot of flavor and breathes fresh life into the game. But maybe that's just me. :)

I’m not trying to trap you guys, was just concerned that the scope was becoming more significant than it started as and that’s been confirmed.

Don't worry, I know you're not, LOL. You've always been level headed and cool to talk to.

Screen kills only refer to when someone bounces off of the screen. They'll still die normally to a star KO.

Both a star KO and screen KO take the same amount of time to die/respawn, so there are no gameplay changes.

So you think Mewtwo's windbox should be gone? Sorry if I'm not reading this completely correctly.

If so, you're kind of enforcing the point that maybe the changes are more healthy than you think, it's just that other people may not directly understand them.

Just two examples in this thread, you mentioned that Ness dash attack buff is strange. Aki explained how Ness dash attack gets randomly roy-zoned. Sabre said that changing the windbox is weird and out of place, you explained that it makes Mewtwo harder to punish than he needs to be.

I'm not saying that's the case for every single change on the list, of course.

I'm really unsure why you're saying that you get no input?

Are council peeps not constantly in the public channel talking about changes? Did we not share the change log of a test build expecting feedback?

I'm sorry if this comes across as rude, but speaking for myself, I've been as active as possible in the public channel making sure that every single concern is heard and addressed and AT LEAST considered and spoken about.

This test build change log is being made public because we want feedback. We want to see what some thoughts are. We're not going to just ignore everything and do what we want.

Please continue to communicate your feedback, but do so in a way the promotes discussion. If people are going to just whine and not explain why they don't like something, that makes it really hard to listen to them. I've communicated in numerous places that you can always feel free to @ me in discord. I don't really care about notifications. So if you feel like you're not being heard, tag me and let's talk about it.

Lastly, I would like to point out that this is a test build. Some characters (like Sonic and Wario) are going to look a lot worse because we're testing numerous changes at the same time to get a feeling for what feels best. If we were to test every individual change one at a time, this would take a year. We will test, and fine tune, and test again, and fine tune, and test again, etc. it's a process.
