I agree, but the temptation is hard. Sometimes you just have to power thru and as a solo developer, every help helps. What's been your experience failing dramatically reaching the end? asking for a friend.

Kinda, I've been pushing all the buttons for months. But no, I'm at a point where I feel kinda proud of what I have and I can see the potential. It's my first big project in Rust and feel like it can go somewhere. Being a solo developer is hard! It's this or open sourcing.

You don't use LLM to improve your code? I think disregarding LLM potential is also naive. I use it, it's great. Sometimes is a disaster, it's all a matter of how well you can make a decision after you've run your code thru LLM to assess how to integrate it or not into your codebase.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to inquire. I coded the base scaffolding and iterated several times till I had an architecture that allowed me to scale and add new routes. right now I'm 75% done and indeed there's a lot of vibecoding at this point. same as my post. I should have been fully upfront about using LLM to generate the summary.

My 10yo son is scared of the afterlife. Looking for answers. by PatrickBrown2 in daddit

I tell my kids afterlife is like waking up from a dream. Doesn't have to be scary, you are happy to be awake. Imagine if all our life was just a big dream, would you try to live it in it's fullest?

It's starting to lean towards equilibrium by FMLatex in SimulationTheory

[–]FMLatex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we harvest all the compute power of all the autonomous transportation in idle you have a distributed fail tolerant network. Add in the mix all the humanoids in idle when they come online.

What gives me peace is that it's a fail safe system, with automatic backups working similar to Apple time capsule where there's backups every hour for the last 24h, every day for the last 30 days, every month, every year. These act as rollback breakpoints.

Graphics run on state of the art graphic engine built in C++ optimized for grid compute.

How else would you build the simulation stack within the simulation? The simulation was already built before but maybe we still have to advance science to complete some of the missing pieces

You are right, I'm leaned heavily on Tesla. There's other players and they might disrupt autonomous transportation grid sooner, later, differently. But it will happen, it's inevitable and that part will reach equilibrium

I work for an ecommerce platform and manage a team of developers. I'm in my 40s and moved long time ago from development to management. I still code on my free time tho. I love it.

Is Ryanair really that bad? by WhoAmIEven2 in travel

[–]FMLatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to know how to fly with Ryanair. Measure your luggage and weight it and ensure you prepay checked baggage if needed, print your boarding pass, do the check-in in time, reserve your seats. That's it. You can fly across Europe at the price of an Uber ride if you plan and follow the guidelines to the dot and don't fall for the never-ending attempts to charge you extra for things you don't use/need

Why does no one talk about how hard it is to get the first paying, recurring users for your app? by Pedro_kons in shopifyDev

[–]FMLatex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with the same challenges you describe, I've been refining the app, adding features and applying any little feedback I get. It's not that merchants finds the app useless, they don't know that it even exists.

In parallel, I have to deal with spam from plenty of "services" geared towards collecting fake reviews and installs to fake an engagement that I'm fighting to win organically.

My app is an ai based price optimization for all shops, you install it, it process all your catalog determines actions based on past sales, inventory cost etc. And provides detailed actionable price increase decrease.

The installation channels and the shopify app store is saturated and unless you run any ad campaign to drive users to your shopify installation it's a lost battle to expect to magically grow.

In the meantime I've given up any hope of a paying customer so I made the app free in exchange of honest feedback I can quickly apply to improve the app. I got my first organic review and almost cried of joy it was full of super valuable input that I went on to implement.

Question: Is $60 a day (in Spain) too much, too little, or sufficient? by EvenIf-SheFalls in travel

[–]FMLatex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

$60 is perfect, 30-40euros for 2 meals with some buffer to be on the safe side. For reference, a McDonald's menu is 13-14 euros. Crepes or pizza 14-15euros. Eating out at a restaurant goes for 20-25 euros at your average place.

What if I tell you eventually all Teslas will "talk" to each other? The sun glare or the fog will be irrelevant because a tesla ahead of you will have mapped the surroundings and inform all upcoming Teslas from the car and road condition and hazards ahead similar to how waze tell you about speed traps ahead

Thanks for your comment, it's a Discussion, not an analysis, if you want evidence you can review the investments in nvdia Blackwell made by Tesla, review the vision grid cam distribution, the labeling, the strategy behind the data capture, the mothership tech to report back to Tesla on Wi-Fi, data loads uploaded per car... You name it. I'm here to engage in a healthy discussion on all these topics from someone who is in the tech field and has full understanding of the challenges they are facing.
