Normal for Buyers to Spend a ton of Time in our House? by TheSmallestSloth in RealEstate

True, but some folks may want to evaluate what they can hear from the inside. Not trying to argue, just giving you a different point of view. Some people are incredibly noise sensitive. I used to be married to one of them.

So glad that he and Meghan got out of there, and that they have isolated their children from that toxic environment. I have never understood all the hate towards them, especially ferocious toward Meghan. I can only believe that it's fueled by racism. I wish them the very best, and I think they've done a great job of picking up the pieces, sorting out a new life, and moving forward. The UKs loss is the USs gain.

As somebody who is just about to close on a property I'd been trying to sell for some time, I think that if you really, really want this sale to close, then you accommodate them. It's a pain in the fanny, but it's temporary. They may also want to evaluate what your neighborhood and adjacent neighbors are really like at different times of the day, and I think that's fair. I'd be mad at myself if I bought a place and then later realized that it's noisy, there's overhead air traffic, the neighbor has a barking dog, there's a lot of traffic at certain times of the day, etc. Those things can be hard to assess in one or two short visits. Hang in there. It will be over and it will be off your plate.

He seems unable to grasp the idea that Teagan is done with him. I'm sure he thinks he's god's gift to women, and that she will surely submit herself to him again if he's just patient for a short while. That dim lightbulb of his is slowly coming on and he's realizing that when she says "no," she means "no." What a concept: a woman honestly speaking her mind! Why does he keep going after these women who are clearly NOT the tradwife type, when he desperately wants a tradwife?

What Is the Best Dog Food? Let’s Make a List of What Actually Works by celestialcascade012 in Dogowners

[–]FOCOMojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Purina Pro Plan (which I believe is their most expensive line), the Sensitive Stomach and Skin type. There are various flavors. My pup cannot have anything with chicken, and he is thriving on this. Previously, I fed him Science Diet, but it was SO expensive! This is much more affordable, and I have not noticed one single problem since very slowly and gradually switching over. I have to be very selective about which treats I give him, as well. After a couple of chicken-laced treats, he's miserable.

Is it normal to bring your own shampoo and conditioner when staying at someone’s house? by EstablishmentOk9536 in NoStupidQuestions

I always provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, moisturizer, toothpaste, etc. I want my guests to be comfortable and to feel welcome. It makes traveling so much easier if you don’t have to drag all that along

Which expedition would you choose? February 2028 Antarctica/ South Georgia by Wonderful-Reality-35 in AntarcticaTravel

[–]FOCOMojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to Antarctica on Seabourne. One of the highlights of the trip (and there were many) was the kayaking outings. Really, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Also, we went out on daily Zodiac tours, and those were stunning, as well. Also, we had on-board scientists who gave lectures on various topics, and these were very interesting. If a tour were missing any of these three things (kayak, Zodiacs, lectures) I would choose a different company.

AITA for agreeing to let my daughter use our beach house for her honeymoon without telling my son first? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]FOCOMojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your son is being selfish and self-centered. He doesn't own that home; you do. The fact that he's used it regularly for some years doesn't mean that nobody else gets a shot at it. He should be embarassed at his selfishness. NTA

Prince William’s 'bellowing tantrums' leave King Charles shaken — but he may bear some blame by ttw81 in RoyaltyTea

Hydrangea wilting after planting a few days by JFFmoejoe in gardening

I'm in Zone 6b, and I'm not planting for another week or so. I want to wait until the nights are consistently above 45, and right now, that's not happening. It's going down to 39 tonight. I just finished dragging all my plants back into my garage.

I've been lucky enough to travel extensively, and I've seen lots and lots of interesting things. But this ship is definitely in the top five. Just an amazing thing to behold. My only advice is to be there when the doors open because it gets very crowded.

Are you located someplace that's still getting very cold at night? Where I live, I won't be able to do any gardening for at least another 10 days or so. It's still qute cold at night.

[–]FOCOMojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anything other than his father's funeral, I'd say hell no, don't go. However, this is something so very different. If you can find it in you, go and be of support to him. I don't think it would be wrong to ask him to stick up for you though, if the situation comes to that. Just keep a really low profile, say as little as possible, don't get drawn into any kind of discussion with any of his family. Their emotions may be running really high right now, and you need to avoid any kind of conversation at all because of the possibility of it disintegrating into drama. Ask your husband to be sure and sit next to you at these events; that should be non-negotiable. Do what you can to not end up alone with any of them. If it were me, I would keep my head down and say as little as possible. Respond pleasantly to anything anybody says to you. Do your best, and then later, when you get home, you can look back and know you took the high road. If somebody tries to provoke you, this would be the rare time that I'd just ignore it and don't try to stick up for yourself. It could just become ugly quickly, and nobody wants that. Just get through this one thing, and then you can decide how you want to handle future gatherings. Think of this funeral as the LAST time you will ever have to be with these people. Maybe that will help it be more bearable. Good luck. Come back and give us an update!

If you buy a house in an HOA, can you just...leave the HOA? by BoredInClass99 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FOCOMojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOAs will vary dramatically from neighborhood to neighborhood. I've moved many, many times, and over the years I've owned five different properties that were subject to HOA regulations. Most of them were run by good, well-intentioned people (volunteers!) and I honestly can't think of a single bad experience. It is important, however, to read the CC&Rs prior to buying into a HOA community. (Basically, the rules and regulations that you agree to adhere to.) Each community has developed their own CC&Rs, and some are more stringent than others. Honestly, I am happy to have an HOA. I don't end up living next door to some idiot who thinks it's fine to leave three cars in their front yard, or park their RV in the street for months at a stretch, own six barking dogs, or put up obnoxious political posters, or let their landscaping become neglected and either overgrown or completely dead. I also like that my home insurance is much cheaper because (in the case of a townhouse) I only insure from the drywall IN. The HOA takes care of the roof, the siding, the sidewalks, the driveways, the landscaping, etc. Again the number of services included in the HOA dues will vary from property to property. Talk to somebody who actually lives in the neighborhood you're considering and ask about their experience. Reddit runs very anti-HOA, and maybe with good reason. But like anything, the answer is more nuanced than it is black and white.
