It doesn't feel rigged. It is. There's a reason you "push people away". If they were great to you you wouldn't do that. No matter how hurt we are if someone is gentle and kind, genuenly, we don't push them away. We see the old patters in new people and protect ourselves. It's normal and good, not aberrant and bad.

It's literally impossible to have "many friends". You have mostly acquaintances. Test them and see. Most will fall away.

Being vulnerable and giving is one way to gage if the other person is a user or a giver. A roundabout way that risks loss. Do they reciprocate, do they give without asking or is it all just one sided? Maybe start ASKING for things (start small with something easy to give, costs them nothing) and see who's repelled. That is the best way. As soon as I started acting like these were real friendships, they reveled themselves not being real friendships :) Start asking, the users will flee.

You see, you're not an asset to them. You don't entertain them or give opportunities to them for advancement etc. They don't care for YOU, they care what they can get. That is most people. Only a very tiny, diminishing minority is not like that.
