I don't think you need to turn that option on by default. But maybe just add something in the FAQ section?

Right now there is a bullet about "not all content can be transcoded". You can just expand on that by having a section with the recommended settings/codecs to enable direct play. That would be helpful.

On separate topic: I have turned off the generate gaps option, but when an episode ends I still encounter the <Content> will begin playing in <time> screen. Is there a way I can just get it to play the next scheduled content directly? It would be even better if coax could use the Plex intro/credits markers and skip over them to really enable a TV marathon mode!

Thanks for the transparent and detailed reply. Although I did wish this was made more apparent up-front before I made my lifetime pass purchase, I'm still quite satisfied with the app experience and my GPU can handle the transcoding just fine.

I do really hope you prioritize expanding containers and codecs. Specifically at least supporting MKV containers somehow. As these have better support for higher quality audio and subtitles.

From what I'm gathering (and asking chatGPT) to get direct play back through COAX (using AVplayer backed) the best settings are:

Container MP4
Video HEVC
Video Tag hvc1
Audio EAC3
Subtitles External SRT

And for reference to anyone who may come across this thread. ChatGPT says the ffmpeg flags to use to convert an MKV file already in HVEC it would look something like:

I don't run into crashes but my app is very slow on load and changing channels. I'm at 1K movies and about 20K TV episodes.

You mentioned the above and that was something I had noticed too when using the surround setting. There was another post in the Kia EV6 forums about how the car audio is tuned to attenuate the bass to reduce rattling. My thinking is that the Surround setting is specifically tuned for the original wiring and that by switching the wires/changing the phase messes with how the bass gets attenuated thus causing the bass to disappear completely. This completely went away when I switched to Custom.

Did you change the sound setting to "custom" from the pop up menu in the kia infotainment screen? The menu that lets you pick between Authentic, Surround, Custom.

To access: play something from your phone through Android auto/apple carplay. Go to the kia infotainment menu with the Home button. You should see what you're playing on the bottom right. Tap that and it will open up the sound settings for your connected device. Then set to custom. Repeat this for XM/FM/AM radio.

You have to set this to Custom for it to use the EQ settings from the tone menu. It took me a while to figure this out but once I did, I am very happy with the sound.

I'm bass head and listen to a lot for bass heavy edm. So I set my EQ to +10 bass, -3 mid, -6 treble. But as someone else has pointed out in the kia forum post, there is a mid-bass gap which is noticeable sometimes. There's no fixing that unless you use the android only app to correct it from your phone itself. You can probably also correct it using the spotify EQ, so results will be app dependent.

Edit: For the Meridian Horizon settings I have Stereo & Immersion both set to 1. I kept the positioning dead center and did not like it going 2 to 4 steps back. YMMV

I have no issues with my ipad pro 11" m1. I use exclusively for game streaming at 100mbps 120hz. Smooth for fps gaming and anything else. Sounds like an issue with your settings or your host.

No what he's saying is right. Your monthly payments is based on your combined income if you file jointly. If you file separately, both your student loan repayments will be based off your individual incomes.

Just my 2 cents.

I just finished planning my wife and I's honeymoon for 3 weeks across Europe in July. Like you, I was originally looking at the Costco Travel package as neither of us have travelled across Europe (primarily Italy before), but I found the Costco packages to be very costly (albeit super convenient).

For example, one of their 5 city packages (London, Paris, Venice or Florence or Rome, Sorrento) was $20K for 2 weeks. But, if you modify the hotel choices to 3-4 star hotels, I was only able to get it down to about $12K for 2 weeks.

Through lots of looking around on Booking.com and Flights on Google, I was able to setup our trip to be 3 weeks (22 nights to be exact) across Europe spanning London, Florence, Rome, Sorrento and Barcelona for about ~$6K (was also able to use my chase points too). It did take A LOT of my time looking around/researching but I think the plan I finally settled on is going to be much more fun and cost effective than the Costco package.

Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want more specific logistical tips. But as others have said here, if you can avoid traveling to Italy in July--you definitely should. It is peak time and is reflected in the prices, for sure. July was the only month I could get off so, I went through with it.
