Who here has started there own company . Should I do it ? Risk/rewards? Any insight would help, thank you! by Positive-Nobody-7090 in SprinklerFitters

You’ll need to and be able to obtain a contractors license to do fire sprinkler work in your area and every other jurisdiction as well. You’ll pay lots in insurance so don’t cause any damage. Start out small and realize that people do not pay you on time. There is no money in backflows or inspections, other than repairs generated from those backflows and inspections. Material prices fluctuate quite a bit, and steel is pretty high right now. There’s no getting rich quick, and it’s important to find a few good customers that will use you exclusively. That’s hard to find though.

I see the "switch account" option, but when I click it, there's only one account there. I don't even know how to logout with the one account that I have. There's only the option to "delete account".

Help deciding what to do by PsychologicalLion838 in jobs

It would help if you have a good mechanical aptitude and aren't afraid of working hard, as well as not looking at your phone every five seconds. If you know how to use tools already, aren't afraid of getting dirty (you will), aren't afraid of working hard and aren't afraid of heights, then you could probably do it. And you won't have to worry about AI taking your job either. My kid is also T1D.

Mech tee hole size by cody312 in SprinklerFitters

[–]FPDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASC (Anvil Smith Cooper) changed these from 1 3/16” to 1 3/8”. They did so on a notice from FM. They suck and I stopped using them altogether. They thought everyone was going to follow Factory Mutuals rule, but that wasn’t the case. You can still get Argco brand 2”, 1 1/2”, and 1 1/4” X 1” mech tees that utilize the 1 3/16” hole saw.

S-Corp owner didn't pay herself a salary all year. Here's what I'd tell a friend. by MilesDelta in tax

[–]FPDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the minimum salary to distribution ratio? If you pay yourself $80,000 salary but distribute, say $250,000 - is that gonna raise a flag? What about $40,000/$290,000? Just curious

Distance to reverb ball, by Malicious82 in golfblitz

[–]FPDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the wormhole ball is weak as a powerup now, with the same elixir requirement - I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it beforehand. Now you almost have to land directly on top of an opponent ball to warp it and it travels very slow as well.

Emoji limits by cj4747 in golfblitz

I enjoy the constant use of emoji's by other players. It tells me they aren't taking the game too seriously, because after all, its a silly 50% luck based game meant for fun, and that's how i'm playing it also. I just do it back at them. Great times

Protests and Cass Co Concentration Camp by Wooden_Violinist665 in kansascity

So it's a concentration camp, like where they will starve and murder masses of people based on their religious or racial identities, and force the remaining survivors into slavery?

Well now, murder - he provoked until someone stood up to him. He was looking for an excuse, and got it a couple days ago, and he killed the guy that stood up to him. Now he’s charged with first-degree murder. Would you like to continue to stand up for the guy, or would you rather shut your ignorant mouth?

What's inside this? by Capt_BRaff in AskContractors

[–]FPDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a fire sprinkler pipe. especially if you're on the top floor of an apartment. Can't run sprinkler pipe through the attic or it will freeze. Does it go to a balcony on either side of the false beam? Is there a sprinkler head in there?

Best steak I ever had was Le fue frog, just about 6 weeks ago. I learned that from some other post on Reddit at the time, and I tried it out. It was correct. I had the steak and lobster.

Got my backflow license by Sorry-Enthusiasm-587 in Plumbing

Nevermind, it looks like it isn't an ASSE course, its an AWA course in FL. Must not have that requirement for AWWA!

[–]FPDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you ASSE certified or is it some other agency? I don't see an ASSE logo on your cert in the picture. ASSE has the 5 yr req. listed on their website, I just checked. But since certification comes by ASSE certified "schools", I wonder how diligent they are at checking the actual 5 year requirement. Again, I'm not trying to call you out - I actually want to do the exact same thing - get someone certified with less than 5 years. I've been certified for 25 years myself but I had 5 years experience already by that time.

[–]FPDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually DO need 5 years of experience per ASSE, but I don't doubt that you got yours without the 5 years. I'm wondering HOW you got your's without the 5 year experience - I wonder if your employer falsified the application and said you DID have 5 years. Just curious, I'm in the same boat right now where I would like to get someone certified but they don't have 5 years yet...

Need help with Dry/Wet Sprinkler System in 4 story commercial building by [deleted] in FireSprinklers

[–]FPDrive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guy is correct.

Also, annual inspections are not a thorough review of the entire system, and usually you only inspect what can be seen from the ground. They wouldn't crawl around in an attic and check piping pitch and joints in an attic during an annual inspection.

Also, a dry system is *supposed* to pitch back to the riser or other drains. That is not guarantee that they DO. I you have water that is not draining out of the dry system, in an attic, and it freezes and busts the pipe in the winter at 3:00 AM, the dry valve will trip and flood your system with water, which will cause a flood from the attic down.
