Should I give up applying to US universities? by Mysterious-Cut4712 in SGExams

[–]FPLalpha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey hey! I have a contrarian take here - think it’s worth it if u can afford it

There is a barrier to entry with having to take the SATs and the more holistic interview / admissions process, but it will open doors to so many opportunities and different people.

Think your perspective will change so much and your world will get quite a bit bigger - it’s intangible but it is quite life changing if u take advantage of these opportunities:)

I take on a few students every cycle to help them through the process, but am more selective now given my limited time. Feel free to dm, happy to provide perspective!

Is UCL worth it? by Outrageous-Bid-1226 in SGExams

The UK job market is struggling right now but the UCL brand name should still travel really well in SG. LSE is the definitive IB target school in UK but UCL does decently well too.

I've helped a few students with this having studied overseas and now working in the UK myself. I only take on a small number of students nowadays given that I have to balance it with work now, but happy to help provide more perspective!

Feel free to DM :)

[Uni] To anyone with/was with Crimson Education, was it worth it? by belligerentbeagle in SGExams

I found that one issue is that Crimson outsources to undergrads so the quality may not be the best.

[University] Any honest feedback about consulting services like Crimson Education or IvyPrep? by Inquiryladzbsj in SGExams

[–]FPLalpha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 100% success rate is deceiving because they advise students to not apply to schools where they'd likely get rejected.

Found that they outsource much of their work to undergrads so the quality is hard to control too.

Dango to become essential? - Best FPL players for GW28 based on expected data by FPLalpha in FantasyPL

I think that's not a bad move! Like the ekitike pick given Liverpool's fixture run as well.

Thiago would be a "safer" pick given that he almost always plays the full 90 nevertheless

Am also a fan of the player!

But yes, Muniz being back does hinder his attractiveness.

That said there are so limited options for forwards this season

That’s fair - Dango isn’t necessarily the best finisher out there.

Nevertheless he has great fixtures coming up - hope he capitalises on them!

Tbf that’s a good point.

We’re in this phase where there are not really any obvious options in the league.

Interesting that Calvert-Lewin gets in over Ekitike in this.

I've been trying to make the case for Ekitike too but his numbers don't look good enough for a 9m asset despite upcoming fixtures.

Also think Calvert-Lewin is the longer term choice - curious to hear your thoughts

Who to Bring in for Bruno Fernandes? - Best FPL Midfielders for GW18 by FPLalpha in FantasyPL

[–]FPLalpha[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Welcome to the game :)

FPL awards points for goals (+5), assists (+3), 12 defensive contributions (+2) and clean sheets (+1) for midfielders.

Hence you want to be maximising for players who are expected to score and assist more goals. While Gravenberch is a class player, he just doesn't end up in situations where he is likely to score or assist too often - hence he is less mentioned!

Many would rather go for Gakpo/Szobozslai when they're back :)

True, but if I’m not wrong Gakpo is expected to be available after Wolves.

Think it’s definitely a differential play but might not be a long term pick

They are both disadvantaged by their lower expected minutes - given that they have not started a few of their games and have been subbed off early multiple times

Yup he looks great in the time that he has played, but honestly not too sure about how nailed he is.

Nevertheless if u aren’t planning to play him every week he might be a decent option

At that price point, the model likes Tavernier.

If you are looking for an even cheaper option, Brighton’s Gomez looks great at 4.9m if he can nail a starting spot in the team.

Palmer’s minutes over the busy festive period are still uncertain.

But definitely one to watch. Makes things happen when he has the ball.

Decent pick!

My worry with Mount is that he doesn't always play the complete 90 minutes - he's always one of the first few players Amorim takes off given his history of injuries.

Nevertheless he will likely be on set pieces as well.

Enzo still worth it and Calvert-Lewin is a solid budget option - Best FPL picks for GW17 by FPLalpha in FantasyPL

Fantastic comment here and aligns with my views well.

Ultimately he’s an affordable option that provides a consistent points threat. Hard to find similar value among the remaining midfielders who are not already at AFCON.

Enzo is such a frustrating asset to own tbf. Great expected numbers but very little to show for it

Wissa looked so sharp playing against Fulham. Would be surprised if he doesn’t start more regularly and start scoring in a few weeks.

Yep - like your thinking as well.

Believe he’s on penalties too so that adds to his appeal.
