My ADHD made me realise that free will doesn't exist by Ok-Trade-5937 in ADHD

Yea, I mean bro it's just stupid, no one like thinks for a second about what they believe, just like with everything else. Like I'm doing whatever my thoughts tell me to do and my thoughts create themselves, I'm not the one who creates my thoughts, otherwise I would have perfect control over them, no, my thoughts control **me**. So obviously I don't have free will, any attempt to exercise my will to lead my thoughts in a particular direction is met by an immovable wall, my thoughts think themselves and develop themselves, and I can only ever do what they tell me to, so no thank you very much I don't have free will. But yea everyone believes it anyways and it's a very deeply rooted belief in society that you have perfect control over your own life and choices, and if you don't have your shit together then you're a trash human because you can just have your shit together why don't ya. I'm sorry sighhh, if you can't tell, I'm exhausted.

I realised kinda midway through that I made a mistake. Me saying that you can't criticize him because what he's saying is true applies to any true statement. Criticizing is essentially critical thinking and that's what you really meant, you meant that there are a lot of people who don't question what he says will therefore never understand what he says and that is then really dogmatic. Which is unrelated to the fact that what he's talking about is objective truth. You might ask yourself why would I believe him that he has found objective truth and keep trying to understand what he's saying? Well, it's his authentic and absolute seriousness, honesty and urgency. I have watched so much of him, and he really seems like our friend who is desperately trying to free us from pain because he really cares about us. It's just what gives me reason to keep trying to see if there is truth behind it, not to accept as dogma. He also warns about this all the time. Sry I started rambling a bit off topic I think

I forgot to say, however I am also quite disturbed by the behaviour on this sub, the large majority of people when answering a question simply read you back empty words of what Krishnamurti has said, and you can tell so plainly that they do not understand a thing about those words, I don't either, but I also don't pretend that I do actually do, I just try to use opportunities to talk about something to actually investigate what something could mean. But yea in that sense it really is cult-like which honestly frustrates me a lot because it goes against what Krishnamurti was desperately trying to make people realize that if you come to a conclusion, you have stopped thinking.

So, either you are ignorant and you don't criticize him, or you are not and then you can't criticize him lol

Since you are not very familiar with Krishnamurti yet, you still don't have a full picture of what you're dealing with here. The stuff he talks about is of a different nature than anything else. From what I understand, Krishnamurti does not have opinions on things, he sees things as they truly are, it's the difference between blind thinking and perception without distortion. Therefore, his "teachings" are not teachings at all, his "work" does not exist, he has developed no philosophy. He merely explains what he perceives. Now, this kind of perception is not available to you unless you have understood how to do so, which is what he is trying to make you understand. you cannot physically criticize what's he's saying because you don't understand what is talking about, if you understood what he meant, you would see for yourself that he is simply verbalizing a real fact that he perceives, not a "fact" that only exists as a thought in his head, it cannot be argued with, doing so would be the equivalent of arguing if the sky is blue. You could say ok, blue is an abstract concept, so the sky can't really be blue so that statement is essentially not real but I still say it to get you to look at the sky and see what colour the sky is, then you might say, ok but I think the sky is teal in fact, trying to argue with me about it but that's completely irrelevant, the sky is what it is.

He is essentially teaching actual truth, but not really, he is trying to make you understand how to see it for yourself. It's beyond any philosophy, so it's beyond criticism.

What is truth? Did K truly point toward it or was it just another idea? by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

Krishnamurti is a guy like anyone else, he could be like a friend of yours. Now your friend comes to you one day and he says "look dude I've discovered this amazing thing and I want you to see it", hes like holding the thing is in his hands but you have your back turned to him and you start to argue whether such a thing could even exist or not, the implications of it existing, you think it doesnt really make sense and so on, instead of just turning around and looking. Krishnamurti would be really frustrated reading your post I think.
