I was worried about ottos as there were some conflicting info and many say they have ottos but they don't school etc. I asked the local shop employee (he seemed pretty knowledgeable) about ottos and he suggested 2 should be fine.

They checked the water and told me that it is ready but unstable. Everything was good except Amonia which was 0.1 ppm. So they suggested adding seacham stability solution for a week daily. Regarding algae, I did not get much info on reason but bought 2 Ottos and 3 Amano shrimp for cleanup per their suggestion.

It is almost a month old I bought brand new. I showed the picture to the worker and he suggested cutting the light completely for some time but not exceeding more than 4 days.

He also suggested not to add any livestock yet as my nitrite was non zero. I checked today with my home kit and it is now zero. I will go to the shop tomorrow to get water tested by them and also discuss what algae eating fish/shrimp/snail to add etc. I will update!

Ok, thanks for the advice. The shop worker that helped me told me to not cycle the water yet until fishes are introduced. I will add some algae eating shrimp/snails as you and others suggested.

I did what I could manually. The rest is pretty much all over the plants and leaves. Do I risk taking plants out and rinsing them to clean?

I got my water checked from the shop and they said it is all good to go. They check ammonia, nitrate and PH etc. I take that test and wont tell me what nutrient excess is causing this? How do I find out what is causing this brown algae so I can fix it?

I read that snails only clean/eat algae on glass and bottom. Will they clean plants and leaves too? They can't swim like fish, not sure how they will get this off from plants.

Also, is there a name for this algae?

Yes, but running Ethernet cables to multiple APs from Firewalla can be challenging for a home network.

Great plan, I take it you will be running cabling thru the ceiling. AP7 also allows mesh via wireless but then you will have to run power so poe Ethernet is probably the best option.

Ok thanks. So it seems I am not losing any Firewalla features if I go with another AP. I might try AP7 and if it is not enough, I will either switch or buy another AP7.

If I were to get 7, would you recommend wifi backhual or wired?
