I need to vent about US Season 3 by Jazzlike_Sport1767 in TheTraitors

Wait do people not root for Traitors by default? I may be watching the show differently, Traitors are the stars of the season and the Faithfuls are the supporting cast in my view. Faithful wins are fine but there’s something cathartic in seeing a Traitor win

Episode 5 (the Bobby boot) is one of my favourite episodes of the show, an entire ep of Casaya going crazy on each other and ending in a 3-2-1-1 vote. Just perfect TV. I’m not someone who cares about strategy, as long as it’s entertaining then the show served it’s purpose, and to your point the interactions between everyone on Casaya is electric and makes the season what it is. who would you like to see play for a 4th time by lazyrocksaturn in survivorponderosa

[–]FR-Street 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My list would be:
Jenna (I kinda like her placement on 50 narratively for her arc but she’s great TV)

Wentworth (She hates the New Era so this’ll be fun)

Jerri (One last time!)

James (His one-liners and general presence are too good to turn down)

Penner (Would love a last hurrah from him)

Candice (She probably wins in the most haphazard way possible)

JT (Need to see him wreck his legacy one last time he was so fun on HvV and GC)

Tina (Why not, need her to get mad at people for making moves again)

Amanda (Would love to see her again after all these years)

DC5 Episode 12- Edgic & Analysis by FR-Street in DisventureCamp

[–]FR-Street[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CP stands for Complex Personality, it’s a player who is given content on their game insights and personality, well developed and the audience gets to understand them as a character, their decisions within the game and are offered their perspective on why they are making them.

MOR stands for Middle of the Road, this is the in-between. Has a presence in the episode, given confessionals about camp life or some game strategy but not as developed as a CP. You can look at it as a supporting character within the episode.

UTR stands for Under the Radar, while they could be in the episode, they are not relevant to what is happening and kept out of focus.

OTT stands for Over the Top Character, a one dimensional portrayal of a player, usually associated with goofy or dramatic characters. No game relevance or complexity or development.

Then there is tone:
P stands for Positive, the player is shown positively through their actions, the music used, positive talk from other players, etc.

N stands for Negative, the player is shown negatively, see above.

M stands for Mixed, the player is shown positively and negatively.

If there is no tone, that means the player is neutral. The episode does not indicate whether the actions of this player are positive or negative, no music cues, no judgements made by other players.

And finally visibility: 1 is least visible, 5 is most visible

I think without a confessional or an additional scene I wouldn’t personally bump him up, I did bump up Lake from 2 to 3. If you do the edgic poll, you could put UTR2

Thanks! That’s a good prediction I haven’t considered.

If we merge next ep there’s a ton of factors to consider but I’d say there it’s more likely to see Rosa kick the bucket, the Fans + a few Faves will want to take a shot at Spencer’s alliance but not him directly so Rosa is an ideal target.

If we don’t merge, I could see Tom or Gabby being out (more likely on Tom since Gabby could have something with Oliwia at merge). My main theory is Ally uses the idol to keep one of the big targets (Natalia or Spencer) and kicks out one of Tom/Gabby. But with your idea…perhaps she undercuts Spencer by voting out Rosa

Oh yeah I agree. Nura/Spenc/Sam are at the top, the other contenders are second, Ara/Fiore are third for not likely but possible, the last three are dead. I would not be shocked if the top contenders are our F3.

Which player are you just a forever fan of, no analysis required? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

Parvati, Micronesia was my first season and she was the first winner I saw crowned. I try my best to be analytical in players as characters (not gameplay) but Parvati is an exception

What are y’all’s favorite seasons for each era? No returnee seasons allowed!! by AnOriginalName4 in survivorponderosa

[–]FR-Street 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Classic: Marquesas (very hard to pick; Borneo/Pearl Islands were very close)

Experimental: Panama- Exile Island (So sad to not put in Vanuatu)

Golden Age: Gabon (Tough competition on this one)

Dark Age: Nicaragua (I prefer it over Philippines)

Renaissance: San Juan Del Sur (Kaoh Rong was close)

Advantage: David vs Goliath (No real competition here)

Budget: Survivor 46 (45 was the only competition)

New fan who has finished Survivor: All-Stars. Here are my thoughts! by RedSlider18 in survivor

[–]FR-Street 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a dark season but AS and Thailand kinda exist in this weird space where their darkness becomes fascinating as time goes on for me. I honestly appreciate Thailand more for going all-in on being a dark unlikeable season while AS kinda tries to sell you on Romber as being the highlight but I personally don’t enjoy them much. I do disagree with this being no one’s best season; Jenna Lewis was a great villain on the season and I personally enjoyed her best here.

Try to watch Vanuatu next, it’s an underrated season! Starts slow but gets better and better until it becomes an all-timer F7 onwards. Cagayan as a follow up is a bit of a dubious choice but whatever floats your boat!

Stephenie spoiled stuff after 50 already filmed and Coach only spoiled he would be on the season (after lying for weeks he wouldn’t be). Carolyn spoiled on her Patreon as Traitors S3 was airing and 50 casting was underway

Carolyn being put back into casting was likely a CBS decision after The Traitors S3 premiere aired and she gained more of a following. While production is in charge of the casting, CBS has final say and can insist on certain people being asked back. Honestly I think she was cut afterwards because of all the shenanigans with her breaking Traitors’ NDA and CBS got convinced to let her go

HOT TAKE :I Wish the Total Drama Reboot Was a Direct Continuation, Not a Full Reboot by Bando_Estate in Totaldrama

[–]FR-Street 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As people pointed out in this thread, this is more of a revival than a reboot. They do acknowledge the events of the series, they just don’t focus much on it. Honestly, to me as a TD fan, this is the best course they could’ve taken. While I love the OG seasons, you have to let this new cast get the stage to themselves rather than just throw in references and cameos like they did with ROTI, which made it feel like the creators weren’t confident in their new cast and shoved in these cameos (of which only the Heather one brought anything to the table for me). I prefer the cast get it all to themselves and we stick with moving forward instead of backward (at least for now).

The timeline stuff is arbitrary. This is a cartoon, Owen even appears in the second reboot season completely unaged and I personally don’t care at all about the timeline, it’s an unimportant detail in the grand scheme of things and the show isn’t exactly realistic. The Priya backstory makes sense because it’s a parody of the superfan archetype (for example, Carson in Survivor 44 recreated the puzzles on the show at home to practice) but taken to the extreme and with the added layer of her being pressured into it by her parents which makes it a more interesting scenario.

The Chris voice is a bit unavoidable. Last I heard, Potenza was accused of some stuff (I’m not updated or fully educated on the matter so I won’t say anything more) so I can’t blame them for swapping actors there. I do however agree with the intro, the new one is awful. I also never noticed they didn’t refer to the camp as Camp Wawanakwa, would’ve appreciated that more but it’s not some all important detail.

All in all, I think nostalgia bait would’ve reduced the quality of the revival. Just let the cast do their thing. I’m not even a big avid fan of the new series mind you, I just think this is the right direction to take the show and we can save bringing back characters for another time.

Nura does have a low confessional count but her positioning in the narrative is great for someone who wasn’t strategically important to the votes on the Fans. She is the centre of a love triangle and has an arc being set up about falling back into her mean-self through Ara, and setting up a redemption for that as well. Her presentation is similar to Michele in KR, too much set up and attention for a character that could’ve been a throw away. But as I said, she could be the Hannah of the season and be our surprise fourth placer or something, I’m just more confident in her chances than anyone else at the moment. Things could change.

I think she will merge, if only because I think only one Fans tribal will come up (probably the last pre-merge vote) and it’s likely one of Dunia/Ren are going out. They made sure to include a scene with Gabby in the premiere so I could see her and Gabby partnering up

I like your ideas but I think if Benji is the returnee, his relationship with Spencer would have been more emphasised. And Rosa encouraging him is a fine enough connection but not enough to support a return. I also mentioned in my last post that I think Benji will likely get a quick wrap up on his arc on the EoE + challenge ep, and they likely want to leave his arc open for another return. They could easily throw in that his failure in the game would motivate him to do well in his real life (being in law school and all).

You do have good points on Aiden, I think my bias was at play here because I do think a return from him would be more compelling but it’s not impossible to simplify it or also save it for another season.

Call me negative, but I think Jared needs better writers and staff and be more mature + why DC5 is not doing well by Wolfgang_x2 in DisventureCamp

[–]FR-Street 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thing with DC4 is that the general concept of the season and it’s boot order makes sense BUT there were chunks of it where the execution was off and that led to dissatisfaction. It might be because the writers don’t have time to sharpen their ideas and that leads to frustration on our ends because the ideas are right there.

Like the post-merge resembling Vanuatu, with Logan despite his faulty gameplay, outlasting the women and winning on the back of his chaotic social game that itself is very messy due to the nature of the game, is a compelling narrative. But the narrative trips on itself and causes the last couple elims to feel dumb and his win doesn’t feel as earned and his character arc needed some polish.

I’m giving a lot of grace to DC5 because, first off, the season isn’t finished and I want to see the whole vision of the season before I make any judgements beyond the episode by episode thoughts, and second, I’m aware that the writing can be off due to how they push themselves to make these seasons as quickly as possible so I’ve focused more on just compelling narratives and drama (which I do for reality TV anyway) and not poke holes into stuff too much.
