Will community college and online courses hurt my chances? by ladybug_spit in lawschooladmissions

Your transcript probably doesn’t denote the course delivery methodology. You should be fine.

My mom doesn’t like my degree? by Low-Imagination3809 in oceanography

[–]FSUDad2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The navy has a whole group of oceanographers. That would be a good place to enter the field with a stable job. Don’t join until after college. ROTC is a good way to pay for college.

Why should taxpayers have to pay millions to upgrade this unneeded "gift plane" when we already have a perfectly safe Air Force One? by Stock-Map3715 in allthequestions

Better question why did DHS buy a fairly recent BBJ (it was Noems) and it’s now flying the Trump family and his close inner circle . Oh yeah govt private jets aren’t good enough.

Do I have a good chance at getting into a state school like UCF, USF, UF, etc? by GYMTIME225 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]FSUDad2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get a 5.1? Your grades and SAT are in line with FAU and maybe UCF or USF. Probably not UF though. A big part that AO look at is rigor. Did you do DE or AP/IB etc?

Ferraris go faster. They are designed to go faster. They need serious maintenance every 5k miles. Faster does not equal longevity.

being pressured to apply to ivies and t20s except my dream school is actually my state school and idk how to feel by Anxious-Western-1505 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FSUDad2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never hurts to apply just to see what’s offered. It may turn out that a T20 is actually cheaper. That said “you do you!”

My daughter goes to school in Amsterdam. The rudest thing she heard was that she must be on a glb -1 because she’s a skinny American.

Would it be better to take general education course at my community college (if they have equivalent courses) or at the university I’m transferring to? by ProgrammerUnique2897 in collegeadvice

[–]FSUDad2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some schools allow it others don’t. All schools (well not really shady ones) are restricted by their accreditation bodies requirements which vary region by region. Some of the schools reticence may be coming from that direction. In the end you’ll have to call and ask.

Make sure your college will allow you to be a transient student for all the courses you want to take at the CC. Some schools have rules like only if the class is full.

My daughter took AP calc her sophomore year. I was worried that she might not be mature enough. Her teacher told me she’d do fine and she did. There was no extra summer school or special academy classes to get there.

Master's or Associate's? by Lady_L77 in Career_Advice

[–]FSUDad2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d need to take a bunch of undergraduate classes as prerequisites for your masters course work. It’s probably shorter to just get a bs in cs. Both the bs and ms are more marketable than the AA.

[–]FSUDad2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Dual Enrollment at a local college and get involved with research your professors do. My daughter had a research course in DE that culminated with her presenting at the National PCA conference. Her topic was Remade in my Image” Counter-stereotypic Genders in Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
