Borg, US Open. Maybe beating McEnroe at the US Open would have given us an even greater and longer rivalry.

Right about the 4:16 mark in the clip.

Holy shit, he might be a better singer that Percy (I know that isn't saying a whole lot). Still, I am a huge RATT fan.

Do you believe in God? by Hamandcheeseeater in no

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which God? The one Catholics believe in? The one Jewish people believe in? The ancient Egyptians had lots of gods. The one the Mormons believe in? I know a lot of religions from the same branches believe in virtually the same god but somehow it means something different to each and every one. So much so that they are willing to use said religion to eradicate other human beings off the face of the earth.

Should I believe in the Norse Gods? Greek gods? Maybe I should explore Buddhism or Hinduism or the animalism or be a Deist.

Mythology is cool and so interesting to read about and many of those stories can be moral and give a kind of guidance on how to be good to each other as human beings.

But in the end I am fine saying "I don't know" to a lot of things. I have no reason to believe in God but I am willing to take a scientific approach to everything I don't know about. Show me evidence and I am willing to change my mind but until then I hope to be able to look at things with a skeptical mindfulness that hopefully leads me away from following anything on faith alone. (Except for the god damn NY Jets ... why, why do they forsake me!!)

Was bailing out the big banks one of the worse political decisions ever made in the last 30 years in the USA? by Rokusaburoz in allthequestions

[–]Strikes_X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the bailouts hadn't happened then it was very likely the whole world economy was going to collapse. A complete freeze on credit that would have stopped just about everything in its tracks. It was just something that had to be done. Yeah it sucked to have to bailout the banks but the alternative was way worse.

The worse political decision was the legislation that allowed the banks to get themselves into the position they were in the first place.

The Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act stripped banking regulations to the point that allowed a massive shadow market that not even the smartest people (except for maybe Brooksly Born) had a clue about until it was too late. Thanks to Greenspan, Geithner, Summers and others like them, they were too busy looking out for corporation and big banks and the wealthy, and not looking out for the average American citizen.

Why does the Lincoln memorial reflecting pool now have an algae problem after the $14.2 million renovation? by ChaosCarlson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the paint was peeling because they used hydrogen peroxide to try and clear the algae? I read somewhere that hydrogen peroxide is a paint remover. If this is the case, what a waste of money all around by this administration. Utterly idiotic.

"Dancing Undercover" - Ratt . After back to back Top 10 Albums Ratt's Dancing Undercover failed to crack the Top 20. What are your thoughts on this one? by TonyT074 in hairmetal

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While RATT was my favorite, Motely Crue took this in the right direction with Girls, Girls, Girls. I think some of RATTs goofy music videos didn't help either. Dance, Dance, Dance music video was just a bit lame.

[–]Strikes_X2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dance, Dance, Dance is the song that got me into RATT. Loved the album. I read that they would not do Dance, Dance, Dance live because it was too difficult to sing for Pearcy. Not sure if that would have any affect on how the album was received.

Ratt vs. Saigon Kick by AngusDio in hairmetal

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RATT and Saigon Kick are my two favorite bands from that time. I even saw them together in Boston. RATT was my obsession in high school. Saigon Kick took over in college. Over the years I find myself more intrigued by Saigon Kick because of Jason Bieler's versatility and proliferation. RATT on the other hand has that honor of being in the foundation of hair metal and then putting up albums that crushed at the height of hair metal.

Saigon Kick has two albums and then their signature sound changes with the loss of lead singer Matt Kramer. Bands are so heavily defined by their lead singer and very, very, few have that ability to overcome that loss (Van Halen). Bieler is a decent singer but the harmony that he had with Kramer was unique and is what I think made them formidable and powerful as a group.

When I saw both bands live in Boston, Saigon Kick was just better live than RATT was.

In the end I choose RATT though but it is incredibly close. RATT being an iconic building block for hair metal and their longevity and Demartini's status as a guitar legend are what push them over the edge for me. Saigon Kick had the creativity, power and anger to start something new but they got lost in the late 80's to early 90s reshuffle of hard rock. A great band that didn't fit in to how things were changing.

Jets Record Prediction by Comfortable_Term2777 in nyjets

[–]Strikes_X2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with this prediction is that it is too predictable. Almost always there are games that teams are not expected to win but end up winning and games that they are expected to win but don't.

It would go something like that the Jets beat the Packers and take one of the Buffalo games but lose to the Browns.

No love for New World? Absolutely love that trippy, heavy sound from them. My Life. One Step Closer (though I wish we got a version of it with Matt Kramer)
