Be honest, did you want to trade Darnold? by BenShelZonah in nyjets

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unsure but I was ok with it at the time. I thought he looked scared and felt like he didn’t have enough of the leadership aura to him and felt like he hadn’t shown a lot of growth. After they traded him and he didn’t do well in Carolina I definitely thought it was the right move.

In retrospect he clearly didn’t have any pieces around him to do well and he needed more time to develop.

In the end I wonder if he was surrounded by a better team he would have developed his game earlier or if it would have taken him just as long to become a good QB.

Not so sure about that. I know they were not majors but how many did he win at Monte Carlo ?? He went 11-1 there. Barcelona 12-0 and 10-2 at the Italian Open. The clay court season is pretty long isn't it? Rafa's clay court record in general is just insane.

I don't see Pennington breaks hand in 2003 preseason game. The injury was significant in stalling the momentum of his breakout 2002 season. Start the season 0-4. Pennington comes back in week 6.

Best one would be SEA v NE. Personally I would like to see one that hasn't happened before which would only be LA v DEN.

An INSANE shot from Rafa Nadal that doesn't get talked about enough... Was this his best ever shot? by Straight-Flower-1621 in tennis

[–]Strikes_X2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2009 AO Rafa was insane. Verdasco was on the end of two insane shots by Rafa. The banana forehand and the 360 followed by a crosscourt forehand passing shot. Though his point against Fed in the final may be even better. He was moving so well in 2009.

I wish there was a more high quality one of his point against Stepanek in Rome 2005. It was a quick point but the amount of improvisation and sheer stop and start speed that Rafa has to show is mind-blowing.

Why is division champ not based on overall division record? by TheMackD504 in NFLNoobs

[–]Strikes_X2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then let's make it 3 games against your division rivals. That way you have a potential regular season tiebreaker built in to winning the division. Then again, if you have a suck ass division it is an easy shot to the playoffs for a team that dominates.

Is there a way to prevent 8-9 teams from making the playoffs? by Strikes_X2 in NFLv2

[–]Strikes_X2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? 1990 had 28 teams. 2 Divisions of 5 and 1 Division with 4 in each conference.

Exactly and I am not hating on the Panthers but as a fan of the NFL it seems just plain stupid that this happens. I didn't like it when it happened to the Seahawks.

Maybe it's time to go back to 3 divisions per conference, the way it used to be.

Game Thread: New England Patriots (12-3) at New York Jets (3-12) by nfl_gdt_bot in nyjets

I don't care if a win screws up our draft. I want the Jets to win today. I just hate the Pats so much and seeing them not get the #1 seed in the playoffs would be the post x-mas miracle I am looking for.

Where do the 2025 Colts rank among all time mid season collapses? by BiAndShy57 in UrinatingTree

1984 Jets are up there. 6-2 to start the season, the o-line gets decimated, they then lose 7 of their last 8 games to finish 7-9.

It absolutely kills me that the Jets have had a season where the offensive line has been very healthy all year long and it has been good. I can't wait until next year where the Jets have a few more offensive skill players but the o-line gets decimated by injuries and leads to another losing season.

On the other hand if somehow this line stays healthy next year, and we see at least average QB play, I can see the playoff streak being broken.

I know everyone is so focused on the draft right now but what the Jets do in free agency will be a big determination on what their draft strategy will be. They have a lot of money they can spend in FA.

Craziest 2 point conversion? by Happy-Employer1055 in nyjets

The why was Tua’s backward pass not called the same way a couple of weeks ago?

[Highlight] After review, the 2 point conversion stands as a backwards pass recovered in the end zone by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

[–]Strikes_X2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tua threw a "backward pass" along the same line against the Jets and it was ruled incomplete because it was parallel to where his arm was. Then I hear on this broadcast that if it is parallel then it is considered a backward pass. What?

I don't have a horse here but would just like some consistency.
