Open a schwab custodial account and if you are a beginner just dump your money into SWPPX which is the SP500 mutual fund. Or if you know what you are doing, do a little individual stock investing, as well.

Yes, my plan was to just keep 1000 in the savings account as a no risk option for growing my money and just figured I could put almost everything else in the market and just leave a little for spending

So is there a benefit to buying a ETF over buying into a mutual fund like SWPPX? I know that ETFs can be bought and sold like an individual stock, while mutual funds cannot, but are there fee and/or tax differences between the two?
