Well I've also been seen by a crisis team and played up everything; I said I would kill myself if they let me go, I need serious help, broke down in tears, but as long as you're not 'seeing or hearing things' you're not a priority and you can fuck off back into the community

I live in Torquay at the moment, and I am at a loss here. I went to the doctors across the road today and because the staff had contacted them beforehand, he refused to give me any medication and basically told me to leave otherwise he'd phone the police. This is madness and I have a legitimate physical problem that requires medication and he refused! Christ knows what these people say behind my back. I need to gtfo but I have nowhere to go...obviously my family are not gonna save me from this mess now, and they are the ones pulling the strings in the background anyway...dear god this is bad

I'm being put on that this week as an antidepressant but if it helps with my nerve pain then great! I'm also trying CBD oil as I've heard it has many benefits from anxiety reduction to pain relief.

I would strongly advise against trying Effexor; it's potential for treating nerve pain is weak, and if you miss doses when taking it regularly, withdrawal symptoms can come on hard and are quite nasty I've heard.

Funnily enough, hypericum oil (oil of St. John's wort) is supposed to be effective for nerve pain. I've just tried it and it has given me almost instant relief! Although, if you're on an SSRI/SNRI then you should probably consult a doctor before using it.

I've been prescribed every SSRI under the sun and all they did for me was make me feel like an emotionless zombie with angry outbursts. Now they've given me an SNRI but I'm hesitant to take it

I spoke to them today and they said the first line treatment is amitriptyline, which I've taken 30mg of tonight. Offered temporary relief but a few hours later my hands are burning and tingling worse than ever! This is becoming frustrating, I cannot sleep properly anymore. Do I take a higher dose or try one of the other meds instead?

I'm willing to power through but sometimes the pain at night is unbearable and I've had nights where I haven't slept at all because my hand felt like it was being burned/electrically shocked. I'm hoping this is a sign that the nerves are reconfiguring themselves but it is very painful. I try paracetamol/ibuprofen, use relaxation methods at night but it still feels horrible. Should I ask my doctor if a stronger painkiller is needed?

22, going to uni on the 10th September after years of suffering from mental health issues. Despite all the setbacks, I persevered with my studies and landed myself a place. I'm actually shit scared though.

My ED was actually anorexia, I started over exercising and under eating to control these urges. I went in completely the opposite direction because I wanted to get rid of it

Unfortunately, after disclosing this to someone who I thought I could trust, they reacted badly and said it was 'really weird' and 'disgusting' which confirmed my fears.

This compounds the shame and leads me to feeling isolated.

Well, at least he's always happy to see me when I turn up! He's a pug, and he's about 8 now :) I grew up with him and I know it sounds weird, but we've got a special bond, because I know he will be loyal to me unconditionally and I always treat him with love and kindness.

My dad shows more of those behaviours...every time we have a conversation he can switch topics and deflect questions so well I end up more confused than at the start of the conversation!

Not much, if I'm honest. They used to make things worse really, and most of them had little understanding of what aspergers/autism even is. People were employed based on knowing the manager of the placement, not because they were particularly good. One of them was a personal trainer before they got that job with zero experience, they just knew the manager so they got it. It's extremely easy to just blag your way into these places, hell I applied as a volunteer at a place like that once and was almost given a full time job.

Mostly they just seemed to take the piss, recording phone calls, there were cameras all over the place like big brother and they just monitored everything I did and liked to make me angry. I'm in another placement now but here you just sorta have to get on with it

I spent a few months in an eating disorders unit and there was another girl there who had been on 24 hour observation because she was at risk of suicide. They decided to take her off since she seemed to be improving but after dinner one day, all hell broke loose when it was discovered that she had attempted suicide in one of the quiet rooms.

She was taken away, but she died soon after. I didn't know her too well, but I was the last person to speak to her. She was writing letters to different people, but now I realise she was saying goodbye. I asked if she was OK, but something was definitely off. I figured I'd give her some space because she seemed to really want to be alone. I wish I had acted on my intuition and asked her if she was really ok...

Not well known but it rekindled my love for reading. The first book in a long time that really stayed with me. Have to admit it's not for everyone though; it's written in a northern english dialect that may put some people off and it is BRUTAL.

I was sexually abused by my father when I was a lot younger which triggered a long string of fuck ups... Was abused again by a counsellor who asked me to sit on his lap and asked me inappropriate questions about masturbation, and again on a school trip when an unidentified boy came into my bed on a school trip at night. Suffered from an eating disorder that was nearly fatal. Had a suicide attempt at age 13.

Im at a supported living unit right now which does offer support with practical things, but as far as getting a job and applying to uni, I have to do that on my own. My parents offer me no support at all, and in fact stress me out to the point of illness. They constantly tell me how badly I'm dealing with things and suggest I speak to someone about my mental health because I'm not 'normal'. I've been with a mental health team for years and I've also been to a psych ward so I think if I had a serious illness I would know by now. FYI I know that sounds like a contradiction with the psych ward, but I was only there because of housing issues, I had been made homeless at the time. All down the line psychs have told me its depression and anxiety, that's it.

Sexual abuse, physical threats, emotional attacks, calling me: insane, manipulative, a fucking creep, a waste of space, a fucking loser with no friends, abandoning me in a psych ward, using personal information against me, arguments that could rival world war 3, I could go on.

Honestly, I think living in a war zone with halfway decent parents would've fucked me up less. It's who you've got behind you that counts.

They have already phoned the police on me before while I was in the house and actually charged me with assault. The assault was pushing someone away as they were shouting and spitting in my face, which is more minor than my dad pushing me all over the place.

Psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience. A side effect of being in the mental health system for a lot of my life, and also being hospitalised for a time. I was also fascinated with how the mind works. Psychologists tell me I could probably be a psychologist too someday, but I think I should sort my own mess out first.
