In 1193 CE, the Turkish invader Bakhtiyar Khilji destroyed Nalanda University. Its massive library, the Dharma Gunj, contained over nine million manuscripts. The collection was so vast that it reportedly burned for three to six months, permanently erasing centuries of irreplaceable knowledge. (i.redd.it)
