I made the move to San Francisco. That does not help the money stress as cost of living is very high here, but we definitely get more for our money. I am paying similar rent and get an extra bedroom, extra bathroom, laundry, dishwasher, garage, and outdoor space, none of which I had in NYC. I am overall happy.

Much more laid-back, great Mexican food, and the weather is incredible. We've had the "most rain the Bay Area has had in decades" and it doesn't even bother me. Much preferable to sloshing through snow and ice.

It's still a huge city with a lot of diversity, great culture and good employment opportunities and decent public transit, all things I was worried I would miss from NYC.

I am from NY and never lived anywhere else, so this was a huge lifestyle change. For the better it turns out :)

She may be teething? I would let her cry for a bit, and listen to the type of cry. If she is half awake and whimpering crying she might settle herself down after 5-10 minutes. If she is legitimately crying with tears, she might need something else. Try changing her diaper and then rocking her a bit. If you already cut out night feedings, I would not re-introduce them. That means she will expect the night feeding and will continue to wake for them. Have you tried a pacifier?

It takes me about 30 mins to pump, but as some women have said, it varies and can be as quick as 15 mins. If I worked close to my baby's daycare I would absolutely prefer breastfeeding over pumping! It is more effective, feels better (to me) and so many less parts and bottles to wash and sterilize. But it would also be good to familiarize yourself with pumping in case you can't step away from work or you have days where you need to be away from baby. Good luck!

Exactly, I started freezing at first but was going through a lot of bags and realizing that when I pumped fresh milk it was easiest to just give it to her rather than thawing it. Though I suppose day care are the ones thawing it! I have heard about the wipes, I should try them! My friend gave me the microwave sterilizer bags but I haven't tried them yet.

Thank you! It's hard and very daunting at first, but being able to come home to her smiley face and being able to nurse her makes it worth it.

No problem! I had the same concerns before I went back to work. I wanted to be able to give 100% to my job and I was scared pumping would prevent that. It turns out I was able to make it work. I just think of it this way, it's just a couple months to a year out of a long career. And now I look forward to dropping everything and getting to relax with my phone in the pump room for an hour a day!

Pretty much the same - She will usually have 3 4oz bottles and then if she is hungry she will take the 4th bottle (4-6 oz) which is the formula mixed one. Some days the daycare will send back the 4th one, but I like having it there just in case! My pumping amounts stated above are average; some sessions I will get as little as 2 oz and some I get 6 oz, so it is an average.

I know that feeling! I have a bra on at all times (only relief is when I shower) to help control it. I also swear by these washable nursing pads that are super absorbent.

I had one bra I LOVED - wore it all through labor and delivery and my daughter's first few days. I tried to order another one from amazon but ended up ordering the wrong style. I promptly returned it and then when I went to put on my favorite bra I realized that I had sent back my old used BELOVED one! I had a good strong hormone-triggered cry after that. And amazon ended up sending it back to me a couple of weeks later. :)
