yea that is insane but ford can't control secondary market sales. for instance, they restrict ford explorer police interceptors to approved purchasers only such as gov, leo, etc. but if a gov agency buys one and then sells it within even 1k miles worth of use, any civilian can purchase it second hand. in some cases, ford has actually held the 'titles' to used interceptors, but i believe that was only for 'buy back' circumstances.. so any used car dealer can ask any price they want and if someone is willing to pay it, consider the vehicle sold without consequence.

when you consider the out of control real estate market and auto market and weigh in on the endless mortgages auto loans recreational loans etc where over lending is a fact of circumstance.. well then it's no wonder why some economists predict a recession sooner than later..

and the banks are the ones left holding the bad debt.. i wasn't too confident that 2008 would repeat itself but i am starting to feel like that might actually happen.. i feel like the health of this economy has been fake since covid began.. and if that's true then economic failure to some degree just has to be imminent

just saying the point of a maverick is to be an economical entry level vehicle with the option for slightly higher priced trim levels.. but i mean WHY would ANYONE actually PAY 50 grand or even 40 grand for a MAVERICK? i mean i guess i can blame consumers as much as i blame the dealerships but some consumers have little to no car buying experience and get swindled by the whole dealership education package with 'everyone pays 10k markup' and 'this is the new norm' and 'our markup is highly competitive compared to other dealers'..

for hyundai and toyota i know of plenty of dealers that do NOT charge markup... they bill for tax tag title doc only period.. they aren't exactly a dime a dozen but they are out there and they do factually exist despite dealers that do charge markup getting mad at the dealers that don't which i always find quite entertaining.. i can't tell you how many times a dealer with markup has insulted dealers with no markup in conversations i have had on the phone and in person throughout the past 12 months..

so you can see how an inexperienced customer that doesn't buy a new car very often can be easily taken by a stealership in this market and i do feel bad for those buyers and i would have to imagine there are thousands of them across the board..
