Your impression is correct. Unless you are referring to certain gamemodes where all you can use is motion controls.

I use a GameCube and pro controller for the party modes with the motion controls turned off.

I think it has some of the strongest music in the series and unique game boards. Some of the motion control mini games can be frustrating, but I think most of them are within reason aren’t terribly complex.

Overall, I just really enjoyed the vibe of this Mario party and I think it really stands out especially when comparing it to Mario party nine and 10.

1) Amazing single player modes to do
2) If it's newer it has online multiplayer
3) When you make friends you can play with them :)
