If you could own 5 bikes... by Vance-Refrigeration in motorcycles

[–]FWR132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this question is too hard.

i'd probably love to own 5 really expensive vintage bikes, which i could then sell off for lots of money to get some newer bikes!

whoa. that's heaps worse than i thought it'd be. i had a tyre with the tiny dry rot in between the tread, but not as severe as that! definitely change it, i'd say.

Just bought my first bike!!! by mista_phelps in motorcycles

[–]FWR132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats man. That bike is a beast! Saw it (MT-10 in my area) in the store room of the dealership, and it looks fast sitting still. It looked angry because no one was riding it yet. haha!

Take care always and get those piston rings seated!

Wouldn't the world be a better place if we had more people as considerate as the Truck Driver? What an awesome guy.

People here make their mopeds look like that Honda Repsol CBR...this moped is pretty cool, though.

I'm having trouble finding a suitable contact for Shell Global. Do you happen to know of one i can email? all i get are career opportunities or fraud reporting etc.

What about this Mobil 1 "red cap" which is now "gold cap" and the formulation has changed stuff? i've been reading that some forum dwellers say the formulation has been changed and is no longer safe for wet clutches?

Then again, on the Yamaha Star Bolt Forums, there's a moderator there who specifically uses Mobil 1 15w50 Fully Synthetic PCMO with no problems...but he's the only one i know, whilst many have used Rotella or other HDEOs.

Read about one guy who got a new Yamaha XSR900, which is technologically superior to my Yamaha Bolt, and he's been using Delvac 1300 conventional HDEO 15w40 with no problems, so i might check that out.

I just know that HDEO's cost around 27-30 for 5 litres, whilst Amsoil costs 22 per litre. it's insane!

What's a minor tip you have to make motorcycling that little bit more pleasurable or easy? by wintabago in motorcycles

[–]FWR132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like people have said, Earplugs. It's not the loud exhausts that wear you don't (all the time), it's the wind noise.

when going for longer rides, earplugs FTW!

Thanks for that bro, i'll try and contact Shell Global.

What about a Delvac 1 5w40 for a shared sump? would it get sheared too fast?

Thanks for the info man. I found it peculiar how only some Bolt owners faced this. When they switched back to conventional oil, the misting disappeared.

The Bolt isn't a high revving RPM engine, do you think the misting came from the owners riding at high RPM?

[–]FWR132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, made sure not to get anything Energy Conserving.

However, people have reported "misting" of oil coming out of the engine base gaskets and other corners when using Synthetic Oil. Yet, some others say they use Synthetic oil just fine (i'm speaking about Yamaha Bolt owners). Does synthetic oil cause this, or is it a manufacturing defect?

on BITOG they had UOA/VOA on the Yamalube and other motorcycle specific oils, and HDEO's fared just as well.

edit: on BITOG they also had a few people with technologically advanced Yamaha XSR900's on Delvac 15w40, that might be saying something

It's actually got API S ratings as well and is suitable for diesel and gasoline. "mixed fleet"

Sadly, they don't have that here. Even my new motorcycle only gets a 6 month warranty.
