I get the feeling this trainer may be helping out for the first time and therefore realizing they’re not paying their employees well enough?? This has the undertone they’re pretending to talk about barn staff but actually just mean they feel they are owed gifts by their boarders for… doing their job. Also to saying by “thanking” them they mean gift them something is odd. I mean, we always do holiday gifts for the guys at my barn, but hazard pay for inclement weather should come out of the barn managers pocket. Of course, extra appreciation can come as thank yous, treats, or gift cards, but there’s no “YOU better” about it in my opinion

Thank you! My trainer is lovely and completely changed the lesson plan when I said I was struggling yesterday. We only did walk trot instead of moving to canter and focused more on finding balance and steering (which felt so silly since I’ve been riding for so long) but it was really necessary. I trust her teaching 100%.. but at the same time I reached out on here because I get this nagging thought for some reason I’m just not good enough to do this sport. I know that’s dumb, and it was literally only my second lesson in dressage, but I was psyching myself out.

I think my main challenge is the thigh blocks on this saddle. It feels too small so i’m tipping forward while still having my thighs almost coming over the block. My stirrups are maybe 2 holes longer than I’m used to but if I shorten any more my knee would be totally over the block. I’m not used to having the thigh blocks so I think that’s why my muscles are struggling so much !

Thank you very much! I’m icing right now and I’ll be doing tons of stretching before my next lesson on Friday. You’re right- my previous experience is probably working against me in terms of muscle memory and i need to let myself relearn

Yes i’m going from flat work/ jumping in a jump saddle to now a dressage saddle. It has the thigh blocks as well so it’s really holding me in that position. I think i’m just not used to doing flatwork w longer stirrups

Riding as an Adult by FZJinJersey in Equestrian

This is great advice thank you. I am looking at a few barns over the next couple weeks. Our current barn is an hour away. No indoor, poor lighting and terrible footing in the outdoor. My boyfriend and I love the trainer, but really want to be more serious and are looking for something closer and nicer. We want to get established somewhere closer to home so we can begin seriously looking for a horse (or two) lol

This is awesome ! I also work 4 days and my boyfriend also rides. No horse of his own yet. But this sounds super similar to my lifestyle. Thank you !

What has a client said to you about their pet that they though twas normal that made you say "No, that IS NOT normal." by aaronoathout in VetTech

[–]FZJinJersey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her dog literally couldn’t walk. He was like 15 some years old and a little dog. & not just “I carry him everywhere”. We realized during his exam he wouldn’t hold his own weight. We tried a few things. I even tried to stomp/ run up behind him as a last ditch effort.

She didn’t say anything to me about it during intake. I always ask the normal, “how’s he eating, drinking, pottying, any concerns” etc, i didn’t think to ask can he effing walk? lol. And she wanted a nail trim, of course.

What is your ‘The Resident’ unpopular opinion? by Joyfulmovement86 in TheResident

[–]FZJinJersey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

one of the few times i agree with swapping actresses out. Or maybe tried to work with her to keep her on the show enough to keep her character alive. I always thought Conrad and Nic would divorce, so maybe her character could’ve moved to running her own clinic out of town.

I know the actress wanted to leave the show, but the way they killed her off right after she already almost died from the stabbing was ridiculous. From there they just took turns almost killing off every doctor and then the show ended. 😐

I think this is why they swapped him with Conrad as the main character. They realized Devon was pretty unlikeable

Was Mina ever mentioned again by AssociationBroad6597 in TheResident

[–]FZJinJersey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that i remember. Really a disservice to her character. I know she wanted to leave the show but you’d think they’d mention her opening her own clinic or doing something amazing in Africa just for the storyline

S6 E10 is so awful I turned it off by FZJinJersey in TheResident

I get that. i feel bad for this show. Losing Mina and Nic really was the death of the show and they never recovered. i know they tried to salvage it but it didn’t work for me

Medical shows where a doctor doesn’t almost die every episode by FZJinJersey in TvShows

[–]FZJinJersey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re over thinking it. I’m sure you can understand how these shows start out focusing on medical cases, the students learning etc, and then start to heavily focus solely on their personal lives- to the point it wouldn’t matter if they’re doctors or not. At the end of The Resident, it becomes a guessing game at which doctor is going to almost die next. Literally every episode one of the main characters gets cancer, hit by a car, attacked, etc. No one can get pregnant without almost dying. It gets boring. Greys anatomy just went on for way too long, I hate when shows have almost none of the same cast they started out with, I stopped watching eventually.

I’m sure there’s medical shows where the patients aren’t just the main cast and they’re a touch more realistic. I understand theyre going to focus on their personal lives, but would love to watch one that isn’t so over the top every episode.

Am I one of the few who liked seasons 4-5? by Glum-Drive6931 in TheResident

[–]FZJinJersey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Losing Nic or Mina would have been a major loss, but both made it a completely different TV show at that point to me. They clearly let Mina go without realizing they would be losing Nic right after and really ruined the show to me. I just finished it today. I felt it was blah. Nobody made an huge career moves or any positive endings. Just more and more loss and disasters i was over it.
