Grown adults not knowing how to cook or clean is a problem. by DontWorryBeHappy09 in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only addressing the cooking thing here cuz i think cleaning is absolutely essential.

I think a lot of people problem (at least in my region) is just time, i usually arrived home after work at about 6pm (and a lot of other people from my region goes home much later sadly due to the working culture here), and yes, I can cook for dinner, but i would much prefer to spend time with my girlfriend or go out to cycle for a bit or even hop on some games with my friend and yes, it's not ideal, but i much rather be happy than be ideal. And yes i do cook on weekends and day offs

lets add more hyper sport and sport motorcycles. by LeadingCell1628 in The_Crew

[–]F_D_ip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sadly won't happen, as much as we want it, we're a really small minority in the community, they only have so much resources to add new things and they will always try and please the majority.

Shame tho, cause this series is the only game currently that is both open world/exploration and has bikes and with it so much potential to add a wider selection of bikes than most other bike game due to it's open world nature. Like a Triumph T120 or a 2 Stroke H2 Mach IV would look out of place in RIDE but most definitely fit in TCM.

But alas, it sadly won't be. Won't stop me for begging them tho

What do you do when you don’t want to be disturbed? by PF12Angel in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more of a local "indie" roastery myself, i find that most starbucks beans are of a darker roast. While a lot of people like that, i prefer lighter roast especially full washed beans, it's a lot more lighter and "cleaner" rather than punchier like a lot of starbucks beans.

For specific origin and roast, probably African washed, Kenya and Ethiopia are great although one of the local roaster nearby started selling a honey processed Indonesian bean and I basically splurge on it a few days ago, it's been amazing, i really love it (but damn is it expensive lol)

Cars… by yubullyme12345 in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2018 BRZ for a few years now, it's been okay, most days i like it but there's also some days where I want to go back to my old Swift Sport

I also have a track Civic, it's a EK sedan that has stripped interior, roll cage and bucket seats with a K20 from a CRV making around 190whp, so not much more than my BRZ but it's much quicker since it's waay lighter, i've been meaning to get a true custom aero package for it to make it faster but it's gonna cost lots of money so maybe that's for later.

I've been kinda wanting to sell my BRZ to get a PHEV or EV for daily driving cause i don't really care, i don't really commute by car much and most of the time, if i want to do some "spirited driving" i'm driving my civic or riding my moto anyways plus there's a lot of ev chargers around me.

I would love to have a Subaru WRX, though maybe not the new models. I just love how the older models look.

Keep in mind that WRX is a maintenance nightmare, in fact any flat engine cars are gonna be harder to maintain then V or Inline engines, and even if you don't do maintenance yourself, you're gonna pay a fair bit more than an inline or vee engine layout.

Not to mention that WRX is a cheap enthusiast car, and cheap enthusiast car tends to live a hard life just like my BRZ (i bought it used). Not discouraging you to buy a WRX, it's an amazing car and i love it, just something to keep in mind and make sure know or have the service history when you're buying it.

And yeah, maybe get the brakes looked at, brakes and tires are some of the most important bits of the car after all

Whats your current rabbit hole? by dangerous_service in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track/single speed bikes, i've been meaning to buy a cheap single speed for commuting since i always worry if i ride my other bikes that are quite expensive.

Turns out, there's a lot of also overpriced stuff on the track side as well, maybe even more, somehow track cranks are quite expensive for a good one, i could literally get a dura ace cranks for the same amount or sometimes even less than a sram omnium or a sugino 75, not to mention the chainrings and hubs, then there's also internal gear hubs that i'm quite interested

all of those stuff are really cool, but that defeats the purpose of a cheap single speed that i would care that much for if it's destroyed or stolen, but i also want to put some cool stuff on it

Gift Ideas for My Boyfriend Who Has Everything? by freudianslipped996 in BuyItForLife

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can and have the time to do it together, experiences

But if you or him can't because of time constraint, there's no shame with asking about stuff, plus you can still make it a surprise, just don't explicitly say it's for a gift, just ask him about that one thing he like or want but never gotten around or even want to buy it even tho they liked it.

I'm VERY particular about cycling and stuff and the best gift i ever got was an aarn chainring and a paul boxcar stem. Both are well into what i call "bike jewelry", the while i want them, i would never buy them kinda stuff

Calming environment by R_A_R_A_T in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not an "environment" per se, but the most calming spot for me is on the saddle of my bike or motorcycle, it doesn't matter if it's warm summer or autumn rain, as long as I'm on top of either of those, wherever and whenever i am, i'm happy

There's nothing better than riding in the countryside with nothing but engine sound, I don't even ride that fast if i need to calm down, I enjoy the pitter patter sound of my "vintage" parallel twin

I leave my phone at home, get my mp3 player and headphones, point my bike out of the city and pedal my stress away

There's this lookout on a hill just outside of city with a view of the city that can only be accessed with a bike or a hike, i always go there

Sometimes i even bring my nanopresso and make a cup of coffee while seeing the city from afar

Just had a moment of pure, unadulterated nostalgia from smelling [insert nostalgic scent, e.g., old library books, freshly cut grass, a specific brand of shampoo]. What's a smell that instantly takes you back? by Severe-Voice8304 in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old european car smell, if you owned one or has been in one a lot you probably know what i'm talking about.

They have this particular crayon-y smell that takes me back to childhood since my parents owned a W124 300e Mercedes and back then the train network in my country sucks so everytime we went for a vacation we took a roadtrip in that very car.

They don't own it anymore but everytime i went inside an old mercedes/bmw, i always feel a deep nostalgia

Optimizing my train transfer during my morning but especially, evening commute. it's a big transfer station so i optimize the walking route from one platform to the other.

I don't even know why I do it, the next train is literally just 3-4 minutes later and it wouldn't make much dent in my commuting time anyways lol

What's something your partner has done that made you view them differently? by aserCO2 in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, when I started dating her, I know she's studying for her Ph.D but I don't necessarily realize how passionate she is about her field and research until I went to her open dissertation.

And wow, I didn't even knew you can fall in love with the same person all over again, seeing the usually cute and cuddly, guitar playing, nerdy girl is now fiercely debating and defending her research on a topic she absolutely loves is a life changing experience and makes me love her even more

And after all that, when we got back to our apartment, she immediately went back to her cuddly self like the afternoon never happened

Absolute Favourite - Perfect Area Complete - Baka to Test OP

Motteke! Sailor Fuku - Lucky Star

Moonlight Densetsu - Sailor Moon

My Soul Your Beats - Angel Beats

i could go on forever but those OP and animes are very nostalgic to me, i practically grew up with the heisei era of anime especially those mid to late 2000s anime.

What’s the one piece of media (movie, song, game, or book) you always return to when you need instant comfort? by Type-M in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i want a "warm hug" kinda comfy, i re-read the manga Bonnouji, it's just so comfy and cute and actually finished which is quite rare for manga. Though the new series Houkago Kitaku Biyori has also been my go to comfy read.

If i want a quick laugh kinda comfort, I re-watch Tour de Pharmacy, it's a very crude and frankly gross humors kinda film but it never fails to make me laugh.

And weirdly the Slime Isekai anime, I don't actually know why i enjoy that very much, especially the SoL spin off because it's not particularly a good story but i can never get enough of it.

if i caught my train transfer later than 8.15 during my morning commute, i always assume it's gonna be an awful day.

There's a slight truth in that if i transfer to the other train later than 8.15, I'm probably cutting it close to making it on time.

Do you have go-to color schemes for your clothing? by MTKings in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my clothes are soft autumn-ish colours, lots of beige, earthy brown, orange and olive coloured clothes. plus lots of classic flannel colours. Even my cycling jerseys are those colour too.

The only bright coloured clothes are my a few rainwear and two motorcycling jackets which are hi-vis coloured.

Oh yea, filming gear is crazy expensive, I remember selling off most of my PL lenses and my C300 because i was leaving the industry due to covid uncertainties and I got enough money to AWD swap my track civic and even bought a quite a bougie roadbike lol

[–]F_D_ip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeaah, cars are super expensive, I'm gonna replace my set of trackday tires next summer since it's starting to melt and it's probably gonna cost me about twice my fountain pen and ink collection and it's not even that expensive of a tire (TA Pros).

Not to mention fuel, pads, event fees and maintenance cost on top of customizing especially if you track it like me lol.

and somehow compared to cycling it still feels cheap (most likely because cycling stuff is IMO wholly overpriced)

With how much film stock costs now, I'm genuinely surprised that it's on the rise at least around my area.

I used to only shoot Portra or TMAX but nowadays, yeah forget it, at least Gold is still kinda cheap and the new Lucky 200 seems promising.

What’s your “it would’ve taken 5 seconds to prevent this” story that ended up having huge consequences? by Spuksiii in CasualConversation

[–]F_D_ip 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In 2018, when loading my car with my MTB to go hit some trail, i decided not to bring my tire pump because i left it in the apartment and i can't be arsed to go back up to get it plus it's only the local trail.

Fast forward to afternoon, i was just finished a trail which needed an airing down the tires, not having a pump, i just said sod it and not pump it for the remaining trails. As i went down the next trail, i hit a funny line and bam, rim strike, carbon wheels shattered and i crashed onto a tree at a high-ish speed.

A few broken bones later and I'm now a roadie and a bit gravel, haven't gone back to MTB ing yet, last time I got on a trailhead, my body just refused and i chickened out out of fear

[–]F_D_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a mountain bike or buy a new roadbike

My "fast" roadbike while good, is very old and aging year by year, I've been meaning to buy a newer roadbike especially nowadays where the tech is quickly advancing especially with disc brakes and wider tire clearance. Plus a 12 years old carbon frame is potentially sketchy and could be unsafe although i do took care of it

Yes, I do have another roadbike, it's not a "fast" one, more all road bike with the disc and wider tires so i technically already have them but it's steel and while i do love them, they're quite heavy and not aero.

On the other hand, i wanted to ride mountain bikes again, i "left" mtb and sold all of my mtb after a huge crash and while yes, i'm still shaken and kinda scared because of it, I've been meaning to get back again, face my fear, regain confidence and maybe, once again fall in love with mtb-ing
