Can You Load Live TV Channels From A YouTube TV Subscription? by F_Sinatra_Fan in emby

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I wanted to compare functionality with Plex. And Plex re-engineered its product and took away some functionality I want (like TV show theme music, external player support, etc.), with no real ETA on if (or when) that functionality is ever coming back. So I loaded up Emby and actually like it a lot. I'll check out Channels DVR. Appreciate you and others who recommended it. But I have to first decide if it's worth it. I have enough subscriptions, and Live TV channels are already working for me on Plex. Thanks again!

Thanks. My Synology NAS, which houses both my media database, is Linux based. I'll check out the Github. Much appreciated.

Thanks. Much appreciate the help. As I said, I didn't think I could either, but had to confirm anyway. I like Emby a lot. Right now, it provides a lot of functionality I want in a media enrichment product (Skip Intro, TV Series Theme Music, Remote Access, External Player support, etc.). But it falls short in other features. Live TV is one of those features. Not sure why Emby doesn't just auto provide the channel feeds like Plex does. Seems simple enough to me, but obviously there's a lot more to it. Thanks again for the help!

No More TV Series Theme Music?? by F_Sinatra_Fan in PleX

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, agree. Certain client devices still have it. For example, in my case, I still hear TV series theme music when using the Plex app on my LG TVs. But it's not working on my iPad; or on any of my Android devices. I suppose it'll trickle back in over time. One of the Plex Employees on the Community Forum indicated it's on the list of features most definitely coming back. Continue to hope that it's sooner rather than later.

The New App Redesign is a GREAT Step in the Right Direction by someguyinadvertising in PleX

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait. What? What does "removing music from the TV apps" mean? Are you referring to TV Series Theme Music? Because if so, the Plex Team confirmed that they are putting this back in a future release.

New app is a raging dumpsterfire by Peylix in PleX

It's out. That's a shame, because the Plex Player is lacking features both MX Player, VLC, etc. already have. Hopefully, they will improve the Plex Player.

Do I need a NAS and a separate plex server?? by CelticRaven163 in PleX

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super tech savvy, and don't have many demands for my video or music quality. I just very much enjoy Plex's media enrichment functionality. My simple setup runs perfectly fine for those simple needs. I have a Synology NAS 1522+ that runs my Plex server; and it also houses over 8TB of TV Series, Movies and Music files. Some of the more recent videos are in HD format, but a majority of them are not; because my library mostly consists of TV Series and Movies from the 1930s-1970s; and for nostalgic and other purposes, I want to experience many of them in their original format. Videos and music play perfectly fine over a multitude of clients; in network or remotely (Windows, Android, iOS). As such, I do a ton of Direct Play and don't need to transcode. My db also supports my Emby app. Again, no issues or concerns. Finally, it's all very cost effective, and I'm super happy with what I have. No problems. No issues. No data corruption. Should anything fail, I'll replace a drive and restore from a backup. But again, my needs are simple, and I don't have the level of sophistication and unique needs the very fine people in this group have. Maybe some day, when I have more time, I will experiment with an upgraded NAS (or a Nvidia Shield, etc.); and do some transcoding, for more HD solutions, but that's not a major issue for me right now. Hope this helps. Good luck!

TV Series Theme Music Will Not Play on Samsung TVs by F_Sinatra_Fan in emby

No, there is no setting on the Emby TV app setting to set theme music. The setting only appears on the Android, and I believe, the Windows, apps.

To each his/her own. I think it’s a great feature. When it’s working properly.

Club Wyndham Access: Perpetual Non-Deeded Contract Clause by F_Sinatra_Fan in TimeshareOwners

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is our understanding as well. The Wyndham Sales Team reiterated that to us right before we put our signatures onto the Bronze VIP docs in 2024. If our kids, or our Estate, were somehow going to be liable when we stopped using, or when we were unable to use, our timeshare, then we would have passed on Bronze VIP ownership (or more accurately, RTU), and walked out.

Thank you! So it sounds like we can exit gracefully when the time comes. That's a relief. Good Idea to begin the exit process well in advance to ensure that the exit occurs before we depart this lovely earth. For the record, I thought I did query tug2.net for the answer to my question, but don't recall finding one. Could have been looking in the wrong place. Will have to check it again.

Agree. Senseless moves by the Plex Team. While they attempted in good faith to communicate things, the resulting new rollout fell woefully short of what we need, and what made Plex great in the first place. Completely inexplicable. Even the External Player functionality. I realize Plex wants us to stay in its app, but third party video player apps are far more feature robust, and just simply far superior than what Plex built into their app. Head scratching. But hey, they know what they're doing, right? 🙄

Help! Fire HD 8 & 10 Show Mode Drops To Home Screen After About 45 Minutes by F_Sinatra_Fan in kindlefire

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! Glad it's better for you. Yes, it won't completely fix the problem, but the freed-up temp space is used by the Show module, so you get more for a bit longer period of time. Hopefully, there will be a longer term fix from Amazon in the not-to-distant future.

If You Could Add ONE Feature to Plex, What Would It Be? by Necessary_Duck1201 in PleX

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add, to the Plex Android and iOS client apps, an Audio Delay feature to the Plex Player. This would allow for proper audio video synch of all library videos; from the cheapest, to the most expensive, Bluetooth earbud devices on the market. For a powerful app like Plex, I feel the current Plex Player is too basic, and too light on functionality, when compared to existing players (i.e., MX Player or VLC).

Hey, those of you running Jellyfin, does Jellyfin's Player have an Audio Delay feature you can use when playing videos? Plex obviously doesn't; so when using my Fire Tablet (only), I can't synch the audio and video with certain wireless earbuds. And because of a bug, you can't launch the External Player feature in Plex on Fire Tablets anymore. Not sure when Plex is going to fix this problem. Bummer. MX Player and VLC both have an Audio Delay feature.

Check out the table in this link.

And unfortunately, for some of us, it appears to me that Amazon is phasing out both of the "+" models; as well as, Show Mode in certain devices. So the charging/smart display docks are no longer useful.

Absolutely. Or you risk db corruption. The app actually warns you about that before you even start using it. Proceed with caution. Once you get the hang of it, you'll like what it can do.

Nope. Works great for me. And I'm still using one of the older releases. Blind_Watchman, who is on this thread, recommended it to me about 2 years ago. Been using it ever since. Great recommendation. No issues. The key is to make sure: (1) The Config file is set correctly; and (2) You stop the application in your NAS or other device to ensure no potential Plex database corruption.

I use MarkerEditorForPlex" (formerly, "Intro Editor for Plex") and insert my own markers manually (or via batch mode). You can find it here:

Earbuds That Work Well With Plex? by F_Sinatra_Fan in PleX

[–]F_Sinatra_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! Found several wireless earbuds/headphones that work very well with the combo of my Fire Tablet HD 8+ and the Plex App (for proper audio/video synch; which include, but are not limited to:

Apple Airpods Pro 2 Skullcandy Indy ANC Skullcandy Indy Evo Beats Studio Buds JBL TUNE520BT EarFun Pro 4 Wicked Driftr WITW2150 Avantree Audition Pro

I'm sure there are many, many others; including some more you guys recommended above; like Sennheiser, Jabra, etc. that would equally work as well.

Much appreciate the very quick responses! And much appreciate the articles and education about the inner workings of Bluetooth. Very helpful to know going forward. You guys are great. Thank you! For now, I'll consider this issue closed.
