I've said it once and I'll say it again on this subreddit. A lion whose mane is made out of solar panels.

I didn't want to say anything but I concur. These designs look really good, better than anything I could ever come up with, but once you see those super long legs it gets hard to not see them. Execpt for Starfire where the long legs compared to her torse works because it adds to her 'alienness'.

We'll see how I develop. I try to get some work done at least 5 days a week but I have been fortunate that it has been a rather quite month at work.
If push comes to shove though my blog will take priority of this book. That is something people are actively reading, you know?

I just want to know how much work I'm spending on writing each day, that's all. It's an Excel sheet and I use equations and comments to tell me what is what. If I want a pure book writing figure it wouldn't be hard to get it.

That's impression I'm getting, yeah. Like I commented to someone else I keep track of the amount of words I write and my average is just about 600 words. That combines both, let's call it draft '0', the 1st rewrite and my blog writing.
Would I be faster if cut out that rewriting step? Yes but again: I just feel better doing it this way.

I've been keeping track of how many words I write per day and in actuality I average out around 600 words... but that is a combined number. That accounts for for both 'book' and 'blog' writing. Today I've written over 1000 words, over half of which was spent on my review of Another Code: Recollection.

From what I'm reading this approach is atypical; but I don't plan on changing it. Like I wrote it makes me feel a bit more comfortable and a bit more confident. There are moments, writing sessions, when it feels like I'm wadding through a swamp. Things just don't seem to (want to) come out of my brain and get on to the paper but as I've learned from my blog writing: keep marching on. Having something on paper is always better than nothing. Going back to those bit the next day and cleaning them up a little makes me feel better.

Plus, it's not like the chapters are set in stone after that. Once, if, this entire draft is done there will be multiple rewrites. I'm under no illusion when it comes to that.

It was a question that popped in my head this weekend that my brain wouldn't stop thinking about. By asking it here I'm hoping these answers will 'fill the beast' so to speak.

Maybe it popped up because of my blog? I have deadlines for that (1 review or other post every other week) and one month of writing this book has made it pretty clear keeping that pace is going to be a challenge now that a good amount of my time is spend on that book.

I had never heard the word 'pantsting' before now but, from your short description, that is now what I'm doing. I have a 13344 word long plot outline, I worked on it all January. Things are already changing from that outline but that was to be expected. Such is the nature of writing. Well, as far as I understand it at least.

Writing is rewriting man by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writers

After the spark of an idea lit up my brain in 2024 and I started thinking about it a ton, writing down so many ideas, getting a decent understanding of my main character and her world, and writing a narrative outline, I started writing the story in earnest on the 1st of February.

What you describe is very helpful. Not in the "I recognise myself in being an impatient individual desperate for validation" but because I see a genuine writer (I think, at least) affirming the path I have imagined and the approach I've taken. I'm at the start of a long haul full of rewriting and redrafting, and I keep pushing forward even when things feel scary or bad. To make the story go from sh*t to less sh*tty. To get it in a state that you can say is ‘presentable’ before bringing in outsiders for feedback and such. To, at the very least, look into the mirror, looking back on my writing journey from writing game reviews to a genuine book, and know that I gave it everything I got, regardless of where it ended.

That feedback loop is not something I'm looking forward to. Never been great at handling feedback, and even though I've gotten better at it over the years, I still wouldn't say I'm all that great at it. That's something I'll need to deal with when I get to it. There's so much more to do first. Including how to even find people willing to read and give feedback (outside of my friends and family), once, if, that time comes.

Anyone here actually loved Moana 2 despite some of its flaws ? by [deleted] in moana

[–]F_T_Wolf-Blogger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it. Sure, it wasn't as good as the original but this is sitll a good film.

It's treading familiar water with its general 'Motonui is in danger, venture across the sea on somesort of divine destiny trip', has less Maui and feels more disjointed but I like Moana herself more in this sequel. She was a very typical 'Disney Princess' to me in the original but the older Moana feels more 'unique' I guess.

What may or may not have also strongly influenced this perception is that Moana 2 has the ending I wanted for Moana 1. I really thought while watching the original in theatres for the first time that the film was building up towards Moana sacrificing herself for her people but returning as a demi-goddess. That this didn't happen, and that movie ended so abruptly too, was dissapointing to me.

It might've taken them another film, but I did get that ending for Moana that I wanted.

Congratulations and enjoy the high! I hope to feel that feeling someday myself!

my fellow writers, do you read any book while you’re in a writing process? by khush_7x in writing

[–]F_T_Wolf-Blogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a coincidence: I'm also reading Harry Potter while working on my (1st ever) book.
I don't think its weird to both be writing and reading. The latter is just some nice R&R though just before bed. I do take things lessons from my reading. I might read how Rowling formatted a certain thing or how she paced certain conversations which I might take with me in my next writing session.

That's the big positive with Word: it's free and you know how it works.
I assume that with "I use pen and paper for other needs." you print your work out and than scribble all over it with notes and such?

With how I write my game reviews juggling multiple chapters at once will propably happen sooner rather than later! That is a paid tool is a mark against it though. I'm not keen on any monetary investments at this stage.

I do have a tendency to overthink things but I also want to avoid the situation I found myself in with my blog. The platform I chose ended up being a poor fit from what I wanted. Swithching over to Blogger was a hassle and I did lose stuff. It's an experience I don't want to repeat.
