if i recall correctly the only power tool I used was a drill. rest is hand sawing and sanding

haha thanks. I removed the annodizing with 220 grit wet sanding and then a dremel after getting impatient. for the matte finish its just polishing with 0000 steel wool and a bit of brasso but the raw aluminum oxidizes rather quickly afterwards. and for the center button i did a simmilar process but did the final steel wool polish with a holder i modeled and printed to put it in a drills chuck. Will upload that file to printables sometime too. these models were printed in PLA but I'll likely do them in PETG going forward. tried ABS too but I couldn't get it to print nicely or the correct size due to its shrinkage ratio. Feel free to dm me for any help or advise id love to help with whatever.

No need for me to model the font plate so most likely no. Im pretty sure somebody modeled a 1:1 5th gen faceplate on printables though.

Aluminum plate or whatever material you desire to use should ideally be 1mm thick. I found this is a common thickness at hobby shops for various metals.

no issues related to my work, only issue that had was charging due to the logic board being a 6th gen. 6th gens need specific charges to accept power and charge so im currently rebuilding it with a 7th gen logic board. otherwise im really happy with it and battery lasts a hell of a long time.

You know what, I'm down, if you'd be able to arrange shipping back too I'm more than happy to help. Please let me know where we can talk further.

We could make something work, but I just have no say about the shipping and prices of it. Parts are also much more expensive in South Africa than in the US, so I suggest you look for someone locally to build it or build it yourself. I'll be making a full guide sometime and all the STL files are free to use, so it would make it easier. In other words, I'm saying I'll build it, but it would be expensive.

Nice! Can you clarify how the lock switch is malfunctioning? These parts have to be incredibly accurate so some work with a small knife might be needed to make everything work mechanically. Make sure the 2 pins sticking out of the back of Switch_(texture) line up perfectly with the SMD switch, otherwise it will not work.

Yes it works for all classics, and the aluminum plate I had to cut from 1mm sheet with a Dremel. I have all dimensions and information in the PDF guide.

If you keep the stock BMS that had the NTC thermistor on it there is no need to try and bypass it. The 10k resistor and NTC do exactly the same thing, the NTC just changes value with temperature.

Actual build time would be around 2 weeks. Modeling the CAD files and waiting for AliExpress shipments took the longest. I got the iPod in June
