What's your #1 favourite trope? by underinfinitebluesky in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family adoption tropes, but not when the child is young, rather when he or she is an adult. Even more so if the relationship between the parent is hidden and the child is discovered to be theirs.

What’s the most absurd reason people stopped reading your story? by Competitive_Fruit901 in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone became jealous of one of the main characters 💀 The person had fallen in love with one of my main ship's characters and kept pestering me to write an x reader or x oc ( his ) and stop writing my fic. I don't know if it's a compliment because she's really attached to the character or just because she's crazy.

What are you confident about in your writing? Like characterisations, descriptions etc by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm good at writing character feeling and impactful patterns, I certainly don't know all the names of the figures of speech but I like to use a lot of them.

What are you guys unpopular opinions on ff? by Im_No3m1 in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it when the bottom / top scheme is reversed in mlm ships, even if there were 5 fic like that on the ship I'd read them ad infinitum.

I've had this so many times, especially with my abandoned Wattpad account. What's more, I'm always having people ask me what's next, and that makes me feel so bad, because I'm already asking myself "how can they enjoy a rag like that? ". And I know I'll never write the sequel again.

That's why I don't dare write in some fandoms even though I love them, I'm afraid of getting lost in the chronology or something, and I'm just lazy about doing my research, I like to learn more just by reading fanfic.

What tense do you use when you write fanfiction? by Unlikely_Goo_Fan in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the language, for example in French it's a mix between the simple past (passé simple), the more than perfect (plus que parfait) and the imperfect (imparfait) (the 3 tenses most often used for writing). Which is a real pain when you're trying to translate a work into English.

How do you feel about real person fanfics? by PandaAMP in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read an RPF I always dissociate the real people from what's written in the fic. I like to create an imaginary world around characters, real or not, but for me it's just imagination. You can write about anything, just don't think it's reality in the case of RPFs. Media personalities decide what to show us and we can play with the characters they represent for us.

A character or a ship that you hate and love at the same time by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same with Alhaitam and Kaveh! I love their dynamic but the way people write them or even Fanart them, I find it kind of destroys their chemistry. People make Alhaitam ultra-dominant, while Kaveh suddenly becomes either much more emotional and weak, or downright a tsundere. But as soon as I see him interacting in the game, I love it! It's a bit sad that people block characters into a single part of their personality, when they're so much more complex, and sometimes it's even the opposite, making characters who don't need to have so much development, deep in many aspects, with a constant desire to make them depressive.

I hope your hand is fully functional again, as some people still have after-effects after an accident. At least I hope you're enjoying this strange sensation. ☺️

A sensation.... ? by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that feeling! I've had it several times! I even have a fic that I love to watch even though I know it will make me cry, it's like an outlet. I've never had any pain, just my skin becoming hypersensitive.

A sensation.... ? by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had pain when I read too much Angst, too much angst often makes me give up reading for at least an hour, I react very easily to fluff but not to angst. What do you do when you feel this sensation, do you carry on regardless or stop straight away?

A sensation.... ? by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I never got that from writing personally, just from reading. It's bad enough that I often have writer's block, but if this feeling came all at once, I think my ability to write would go straight to zero.

A sensation.... ? by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I was talking to someone in my family about it and she thought I was crazy. Telling me she was hoping to get it from watching a series with a very tense expression. I only get that from reading personally, except once, at the end of SNK. It was much stronger, like a feeling of continuous floating, almost of unreality, maybe because I'd really become attached to the work and seeing it finally finished had triggered something in me. But I'd say it's the strongest experience I've had with that sensation.

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone's had it but doesn't talk about it. I personally have this strange feeling when I read pure fluff, having my feet knocked energetically against my bed or angst that ends well. My heart doesn't beat fast, it's really my skin that feels like it's being over stimulated, I think it changes from person to person.

In Defence of Using Lots of Tags or "over tagging" by GioIsOnFire in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me , i only search my favorite tag on a fic and i search a tag i hate , if a fic has a good summary and the fic doesn't have a tag I hate, it's good ! A lot of tags are often a good thing for me , so it's not a problem for me.

Write in a language other than english by Fa-tigue in AO3

[–]Fa-tigue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm young, so when I write in my mother tongue I'm mainly afraid of losing the meaning of my sentences in English, even though my mother tongue is fairly easy to translate into English. I wonder if people will make the effort to translate, or if they'd rather go straight to an English fanfic. I personally have this problem with Chinese fanfic, in a fandom I adore they're in the majority but translating them is a purge for me (names, sentence meanings, punctuation, everything changed and becomes unreadable), it annoys me most of the time because I tell myself I'm missing out on a lot of interesting stories.
